just a note to people who have company cars.
we dont want to hear about your problems.the reason you have a company car is that your company will pay for all of it.They will pay your road tax, your mot bills, your mechanics bills and sometimes even your petrol.so will you stop asking for advice and using other peoples time and brain power and just take it to a garage.why do you need to know the ins and outs that is for people who have an interest in mechanics or cars not for paper shufflers who want to check its not worth wasting thier time(whilst wasting others namely mine)by taking it to someone who knows what they are doing.

WTF?
It's not all roses having a company car you know.
I had a Rover 75 2.0V6 that I didn't choose. It cost me an extra £226 per month nett off my wages in company car tax. That's £2,700 a year. Keep it for 3 years and that's over £8,000 I've paid in tax for something that I can't do without. Does your employer provide you with any tools, and do you pay 22% of their value every year? Doubt it. And if I leave my job or get the push I don't keep the car having just paid most of it's residual value in tax. OK, I get to use it for personal use but I still pay for fuel. I can't take it abroad, fit a towbar or get it chipped, and I have to keep it spotless because it's not mine. It can be taken away at a minutes notice.
You know the worst thing about having a company car? The dealers that you take it to to have it serviced / repaired. Just because it's a company car they assume it doesn't matter how badly they repair / service it and they tend to forget that you have to be in it for hours each day. Because you get it free you won't care how badly they treat it and how poorly they fix / repair it.

On this score H_______s Jaguar* can off. Just because the vehicle belongs to my firm does not mean that warranty work can be carried out late/shoddily/not at all
*must...resist...name...and...shame...EVEN THOUGH THE BARSTEWARDS DESERVE IT !!!
The only dealer that ever used to treat a company car and myself like any other customer was a local Toyota dealer. Guess they had more time on their hands as it was also the only company car I've ever had that didn't keep going wrong.
AND this thread is relevant to non company car drivers as many of us high mileage drivers have to get our cars fixed/serviced several times a year and whilst doing that I have used all the relevant dealers in my area and know which ones are mega crap and what ones are not too bad (few and far between).

here'here! i know exaclty how you feel!
i have to pay a small fortune for a sh1te vauxhall that i hate to drive anywhere
best way to deal with the dealers....
when you take the car in ask the service bod if you could have a price guide for their service charges. just explain that you have a contract due in the next few months researching motor industry standards of service.
a quid says the cars spotless on collection. and you may even manage to squeeze a smile out of them too.
