this is my 2002 abarth.much underated by the motoring press which they tell you handling poor (on the track maybe)but for every day use its very comfortable and for b road blasts very controled.performance is more than enough to have a good time on the west coast roads of scotland where i am lucky enough to do a bit of driveing.the standard spec on the car would make the premium marks dizzy, satnav, heated eletric memory seats, auto wipers and lights, integrated phone, selspeed gearbox ,plus all the usual refinements.had the car since new and not done much except recomended services and cambelt change at 6 years old.so reliability has not been a problem!no rust which everybody thinks is standard but stilos have galvanised body panels.these cars can be picked up for upwards of 2k ! and are a bargain.i use mine everyday for getting to work and as a winter car when the bmw 645ci is off the road for the winter.

As much as I understand that you enjoy driving it, the selespeed box saps so much power. A friend had one a while back and it just wasnt as fast as it should be. I think they look great tho and like you say can be a bargain if they dont break.

Very nice, I wanted a Stilo but Dad still has a thing against Fiats!

Why do you take the 645 off the road for winter? I have a few neighbors with M6s as their daily drivers

why would it sap power ,its not an auto box.changes may be a bit slow in auto mode but that can be just used for relaxed drives or in town.performance per pound it takes some beating!

Although not auto I am sure using that box looses power to the wheels. Maybe I am wrong. Performance per pound its beaten fairly easily but thats not in a car of its age ofcourse.

all 3 of the cars you listed are a minimum of twice the price for the same year let alone standard spec so performance per pound the fiat will hold its own!

Yeah fair enough, was an unfair comparison. 172's are quite cheap on an 02 plate same with civic type r's
how much is the stilo worth?

rallye would be a lot more expensive and gti6 not much in it performance wise.the fiat is a lot better inside and a far higher standard spec.
