Bought this 6 months ago, dragged it back from London on a trailer,it had been stood for over 7 years in a garage, its the 16v model completely un messed with which i liked. Has just passed its MOT first time but not without plenty of effort on my part.
Have removed wishbones and rear axle, both powdercoated and polybushed, new Bilstein dampers and eibach springs, new top mounts, drop links and track rods.New copper/nickle brake lines together with goodridge hoses through out.Front calipers stripped blasted then re assembled with new seals, pistons and bleed nipples ,280mm brake conversion on front, just fits under 15 in BBS alloys.
Days and days spent underneath cleaning ,re shultzing and drowning the thing in waxoil.
Gear linkage completely stripped and all bushes replaced.
New wheel bearings all round.
A million other jobs that i can't remember.
Currently sat in the garage with gearbox off so i can change the clutch.
Not very glamorous compared with others on here i know but all my own hard work.
Cheers Paul.

Looks really nice mate! Some serious work has gone on there. Was it easy to work on? Thinking of embarking on a similar project with similar car.

Cheers for the complament. Yes its straight forward to work on,they are basic cars really with a good knowledge base to draw on if you need help. However they are getting on a bit now and some things are obsolete from VW. Definately have a go,let us know what you buy.
Cheers Paul.

Thanks for all the comments,as for it being a daily driver i had forgotten how noisey these cars are,its about 13 years since i had my last mk2. However it won't be doing a great deal of mileage and it makes me smile when i drive it which counts for something.

Cheers Paul.

Very nice.

A standard mk2 16v shouldn't be noisy at all. Do you mean cabin noise? Is the underlay/parcel shelf there? Or do you mean the exhaust, probably blowing if it's noisy.

Hi,yes i did mean cabin noise, standard parcel shelf is in place, exhaust definately isn't blowing as its just got through its MOT.
However i have fitted a stainless exhaust to replace the rotten origional one,its a magnex which had the most oem tail pipes that i could find with a 4 branch manifold.
Lets put it this way i doubt there is much point having a radio fitted to it,its easily as noisey as my old integra.
