Rallye James's Bianca White 306 Rallye
Discussion
As I've been on here for a while now I thought it was about time I got a progress thread up.
I bought the car in June last year after looking around for a GTi-6 to replace my 106 Rallye that was for sale.
I had my mind set on a GTi-6 due to being able to afford one for little more than my 106 was worth, but when looking around I came across something a little more expensive that I couldn't resist.
It was a 306 Rallye, in the same colour as my 106, and just in my budget. Although it had 124000 miles on the clock, the car came with a huge folder of history and the added exclusivity of being one the Peugeot press cars.
My aim for the next six months is to give it a few upgrades to get it ready for my next trip to the Nurburgring in August, but keeping all the original parts so that I will still be able to return it to 100% OE spec should I want to sell it.
When I first got it, spec was as follows:
K&N 57i induction kit
Ferodo DS2500 pads
Kenwood headunit
Goodyear Eagle F1 195/50/15 tyres
Flamebeater fire extinguisher
Everything else was totally standard, though I took the rear wiper off about 15 minutes after getting the car home.
So far I have fitted the following:
Griffiths Engineering quickshift
OMP upper strut brace
OE Clarion headunit (as I wanted to be able to use the CD changer and steering column controls)
OE spec Pirelli P6000 195/55/15 tyres (only because my Eagles were bald and these were £20!)
Although none of that changes how the car looks, here are some more recent photos.
Planned for the next six months to prepare for the Ring are:
New rear beam - Mine has collapsed and the camber currently looks like a Euro VW. Picked up a new one last week and should be getting it fitted in a week or two's time. Then I will be able to have a go at reconditioning my original one and possibly swap over again.
Shocks and springs - I'm planning to lower the car, just around 20-30mm and will probably go for the Bilstein/Eibach combo as I've heard good things about them on various forums.
Lower wishbone brace - looking to get a custom one from the group buy on the GTi6 forum when the next batch are made.
Wheels - See below
Tyres - Will be going for Kumho Ecsta KU31s as I've had 3 sets on my 106 now and found them to be a very good all round tyre, plus I can get them fitted locally for a good price.
Brakes - New discs and pads needed soon, more DS2500s I expect, quite like the ones I have at the moment.
Radiator - See below...
Cosmetics - Just a few things to smarten up the exterior, I will probably look at getting some Ph3 crystal headlights as they've grown on me lately and some white Ph3 side rub strips as they make the car look more modern.
Clean up - The pictures don't show it too well, but the paintwork is a bit dull. I will be having it machine polished and get it all clean under the bonnet.
Picked these up at the weekend, should be on in a couple of weeks once the beam's been put on and I might even get them painted (white of course ) first too.
Also had the car overheat in some traffic yesterday and found the radiator to be leaking so I think a new aluminuim one could be required and I need to find out why my fan doesn't come on

Alright James, how's things? Love the car, and I know you'll be lavishing plenty of attention on it!
What ended up happening to the 106, sold to someone from the RR? I didn't renew my membership on there because I kind of fell out of love with mine, though I still have it and am starting to look on it fondly again. I've been on there a bit in the last week and it seems to be a lot quieter than it used to
If I can get the car fully sorted in time I might make an appearance on Tom's Scottish expedition this year, you planning on going?

although that picture would instantly put me off!! imagine the landing! OUCH!
wonder if it has anything to do with the collapsed rear beam.i love the lightweight oz superleggeras too but they are easily buckled and bent and they no longer make them so almost impossible to get a replacement in the correct offset. (i managed to buckle 2 of them.)
nice car.

I picked this one up last summer for £2500, about what Rallyes are going for at the moment. A near identical good condition GTi6 can be had for £1000-1500 these days. A lot of car for the money.although that picture would instantly put me off!! imagine the landing! OUCH!

Hi Lewis, long time! The 106 got sold to a new member on RR, he posts up occaisionally, but not a lot. You probably remember the problems with it, which is why I ended up selling, but the new owner has practically rebuilt it, seems to have done a good job. What ended up happening to the 106, sold to someone from the RR? I might be mate. I have a massive desire for a bit of a toy and a 306 GTi6 or rallye would be perfect.darren9 said:

I suppose I shouldn't have got rid of mine and should have garaged it over the winter and got all those niggles sorted but by the same token having some time away from the "scene" and all the chavs bhing and whining that goes with it has probably done me good.
If I do I won't be returning to the "scene" I read 106owners the other day. Nothing changes does it? Still a bunch of stupid complaining chav **** and ego tystical cock rots.
I'll keep an eye on your updates, 30mm lower and those wheels should look brilliant together.
Sorry, but I'm a white wheels man, can't beat a good set of shiny clean bright white wheels I love the original cyclones but I've had them on for far too long and fancy a change
Will be on the track at Combe in September, for Eurofest and maybe Rally Day. I'll be at the spring day too but not on track, won't be ready then and I'll be skint from the bits I'm buying over the next few months
