106 GTI or Saxo VTS?
Discussion
The pug uses their own spec rear dampers, Although at this age I doubt that offers any tangible benefit.
Saxo has better dashboard architecture, although the late spec pug gti's had a nice leather/alcantara interior.
Otherwise its a subjective thing, they are identical.
I had a VTS from new in 2003 for 3 years and loved it, there is no way on earth I would pay more for a 106 if the main concern was Image. If that sort of thing bothers you then perhaps these two cars may not be the best choice.

In all honesty I would now buy a Saxo VTS over a 106 GTi. I had a 106 GTi for about a year and it was an excellent car (apart from reliability). They are both identical in terms of engines, suspension setup (rear beams), brakes and gearboxes. Differences, other than exterior looks are that the saxo has a better looking dash and the 106 has leather interior (Post 98 cars). The reason I'd have a VTS over a GTi is because for the same price you'd pick up a 99-00 plate GTi on 50k miles you could get an 03 plate VTS on 30k.
Same cars. Choose whicheer comes up cheaper of the two (usually saxo).
If your looking to tune it, make sure you get a SINGLE PLUG ecu as its generally easier to tune without major ball ache sometime down the line.
The club scene for each car is the same. I dont think genuine enthusiasts care what badge is on it. Its the same car, electrically and mechanically at the end of the day.
Good luck =]

They're both fantastic cars, fast, cheap to run, etc, only the money you save buying a saxo vts will allow you to do more to the engine!
Dont they both have a same engine?Afterall every Saxo needs a K&N and a big exhaust, non?

And yes, every saxo must have a fart can.

I s'pose the VTS is a tad faster thanks to a lower weight too?
What makes the VTS weigh less?Nikko 40691 said:
