So far so good with the Mini, its a great drive, built like a tank and is a real fun car. Don't know how long I'll stay with the standard 170bhp though!

Looks good Gaz, I looked at getting a Cooper when I took voluntary redundancy before starting on the railway, I put the money towards reducing my mortgage instead though.
It'll be interesting to see how you get on with a much newer car compared to some of the all time greats you've had previously.

I'd like to keep the wheels on the car actually, I like the idea of hiding the brakes if I ever upgrade them.
I think I'll go - pully, intercooler, injectors, remap, exhaust system and air filter for mods. Should see about 230bhp
230 isn't a problem with the R53 - The gearbox is far stronger than the R56, the engine is easier to tune and its much less prone to torque steer. All of those together and you will have a true pocket rocket I think I'll go - pully, intercooler, injectors, remap, exhaust system and air filter for mods. Should see about 230bhp
The only thing with the S Spokes is that they are quite heavy, and add a bit of weigh at each corner, though I do admit they look very nice and hide any upgrades as you say

Not entirely unlike my plan sir.I think I'll go - pully, intercooler, injectors, remap, exhaust system and air filter for mods. Should see about 230bhp
What are you doing first?
Love the R53 Cooper S, supercharger whine is addictive. Always thought the R56 Cooper S 'felt' quicker than the R53, but after a cheeky race with a friend, both cars were very evenly matched!
The R53 chassis can definately handle a lot more power!
PS. Is that the harbour in God's waiting room?

very nice car. please do me a favour though and don't call it a BMW - it really does my head in when people call minis bmws.
Why not? It distinguishes them from the asthmatic rot box was the original.Ouch, you didn't want that quoted
