Having spent months looking at/wanting a coupe (Aston), reality has dawned that we needed a practical car. It did not help that the OH has her new TT, so a load lugger was needed. In the snow its great. The OH car has not left the garage, as it would not be able to get down the drive. But the disco plugs away.

At least its a gas guzzling 4x4!

Sweet, did you go for the V8 or the TDV6? If so, watch out for the body-off service at 90k for the fuel pump belt!

TDV6.

The body off is quite an impressive sight!

Nice choice. I've been wishing my own gas guzzler was a Disco rather than a Monaro over the past week or two smile

Very nice. Black or Silver is the colour to have.
Have they discontinued the 4.4 in the Disco and haven't seen many facelift ones with the optional rear lights, are they still on the options list?

Petrol engine is not normaly made for the UK anymore, although they will build it for you.

If by optional lights you mean the clear lenses, then yes they are still available.

The slightly odd looking LED tail-lamps?
I quite like them, but I haven't seen any on the road with them

GOOD LORD! When I saw 'body off', I assumed the front bumper and wings, not the whole bloody lot! That's unbelieveable!

Body off would entail just that. It is a monocoque(sp?) body on a traditional ladder chassis.

They say minimum 2 hours on, 2 hours off, plus whatever there was wrong - and that's for a couple of fitters I'd imagine who've done it several times at least.

I don't know much (anything) about card design or mechanicals, but SURELY the fuel pump belt could have been placed somewhere else at the design stage, that didn't need the whole car disassembling to get to it! So what's the cost for that service, £800?

Isn't the cambelt service on the V6 (don't know about the V8) a pretty significant job too?

Ive got one of these from landrover as a courtesy car at the moment..... been pretty impressed so far.

Tried a bit of off roading yesterday, was impressed with its crawling capabilities over some high verges although it still managed to get stuck on some flat wet grass!

I'd say much more than that! Harwoods used to charge my Dad about £1200 to service his M-reg Discovery in the 90s!

Jesus! Is that for real? Do they really have to pop the body off for some servicing work?! So what would go wrong for them to have to do that then?
