1980 Austin Morris Mini 1000
Discussion
Well, this is my baby boy - MinBin
a 1980 Austin Morris Mini 1000. 998 engine with dished pistons, 1275 skimmed head, pipercross trumpet and crank case breather. Running on 10x5 Dunlop D1's. Pretty nippy, very loud with a Cherry Bomb back box. Fusion/Mutant sound system. Still got lots to do to him but he's getting there. Sports pack arches, painted two tone Purple Velvet and Panther Black, he'll be flat lacquered to keep him matte.
I'll get some more pics up soon!

It's a back box, sold by Custom Chrome here. A very well built, acoustically designed back box, none of this thin rubbish metal.
I love it (hence why i'm having two - they harmonise with each other) it's a mellow rumble, nice pops and burbles when you take off the revs.
http://www.cherrybomb.com/ - you can have a listen on that site.
Put it this way, its get some attention but the right sort. I always found the twin DTMs on a mini a little farty because the engine cant fill the box, but a cherry bomb doesnt have a huge box to fill

Not really to my tastes as i'm not sure what look you are trying to get with them...
But hey ho each to their own aslong as you like them then thats the main thing!
The only question I have is why go to the bother of putting a fair bit of stereo in if you have a ridiculously loud exhaust which the cherry bombs are?
Also why is a 1.3 golf with the 4+E gearbox rare? the majority of the early mk2's especially the cl's and the drivers had the 4+E gearboxes.

They only made this engine for about 6 months, and only seen a couple of others in that colour (its more used for vans) we're in a big mk2 golf club and not that many 1.3s about. Plus its got what appears to be the GTI shell, with euro styled side bumper things, and LHD wipers with no blanking plug for 3rd hole (no hole there). Got split side windows too, not many about with those now.
And you can hear the stereo just fine... at volume hehe
And well, we do love our cars dont ever plan on selling either so its all what we want with them.
