So after much annoyance from Phil(mk4slowrid) I have decided to start a liitle thread to show the progress of a small project a mate and me are doing.

The hope was to buy a car and put a bigger engine into it and slowly do it up to a fast road car. After a lot of searching I put forward the proposition of doing a Reliant Kitten I saw on Ebay. We agreed after a couple of days to buy one and we managed to get one for £100 but it was only the body and chassis nothing else.

We then had to agree on a engine we first thought pinto but they're getting old. Then we thought 2L Zetec or redtop. After going down to the local scrappy a few times we found a engine a 2L duratec out of a Ford Focus ST 170. We managed to get the engine, front subframe, susension, gearbox and driveshafts for £500 what we thought was quite good.

Below are a couple of pictures of how its going 2 weeks into the project

I'm surprised you're going for the FWD option, but I'm sure it'll be immense when complete thumbup

Won't be as quick as the YB Kitten that's doing the rounds. I had a Kitten pick up powered by a Suzuki GS850 shafty motor in the front (real) Mini Cooper brakes and 8x10 Wellers. It will be good to see another Kitten terorising more exotic machinery, Good work. biggrin

Looks like a nice project smile Are you going for the FWD option or sticking a different gearbox on to use the standard RWD? I looked at a bike engined one of these (there's a few videos on youtube) and they look awesome. Keep us updated!

I'd say that engine could do with being sat at a 12 degree angle (figure out the correct angle mathematically) a bit like the engine in the Lancia 037. You going to have four pot calipers?

Mat you cant say anything you have a license but are too scared to drive and slowgay you drive a cut and shut fiesta with lowered (cut springs) suspension

Brake wise thinking of using cossie brakes because they arent too expensive but are quite good

Nope, the suspension on my car is completely standard. As is 99% of the rest of the car.

No need to call me Sir though Darrell, Phil or Slowride is fine.

Well, you could both just go back & delete your earlier posts so you keep >100 or >1000 respectively.

ETA: Darrell, you can put a car now in your 'currently own' section.

There's a boy, have a sticker.
