Just joined and thought I'd pop a few piccys up to say hello.
Had this scince March, pretty much as I bought it in these shots the previous owner took care of it and did'nt really use it that much. Spent about two grand on it at 'just Gtis' just getting it running spot on, new bilstien suspension, lower arms, refurbed rear beam, new exhaust manifold and a few other bits.
It seems like alot of people in the '205' scene don't really seem to like Jamie(Just Gtis) but the work he did in the time I gave him was spot on and the experince he and his father have go along way. Yes, I'm sure you could find someone to do it cheaper but theres alot to be said for a company who has a genuine love of the cars.

Thanks for looking, Ben

I love it - for me that's every bit as interesting and nice to see as a Ferrari. Nice smile

Hello Stu, Yeah I'm just sorting that out now. Its a bit bent at the mo. Why Is it you spend thousands of pounds and so much time on a car then never seem to have the right photo? Although it was in Performance Ford last year, give me a minute and I'll pop them on, thanks for your comments again guys.

This was at Castle Combe Last year. Just managed to get some air under the inside rear wheel, just!

Engine is standard apart from the 4-2-1 Manifold, Filter, TTV pulleys, FSE, catch tank and the hoses.

These were taken at the recovery depot a week after Mallory Park this year, I lost control of the trailer on the M1! Not nice.
I'd just fitted the new seats and Schroth 6-points which are such good value if anyone is looking to get a set these really are the best for the money.
Not too much damage considering the impact, just the wing, door and bumper, so lucky!

Lotus Elise Sport 160.

Did you mention you owned a 205 1.9 GTI for a time? How would you compare it to the 1.6 version?

i like lots of marques of cars but do like my fords, always had the most fun in them and found them to be very reliable and easy to work on. although when i drove an rs1800i it was one with power steering which just felt wrong compared to my silver xr2i 16v. still love that car. replaced with a mk5 fiesta zetec-s which was without doubt a much nicer drive and place to be but just didnt feel as special.

i never really got on with the 205 gti to be honest. just felt like a tin can even compared to the xr2i although the steering wheel felt better connected to the wheels in the pug. yours is the best colour too.

I now fully understand the dramatic effect of
'snap lift off oversteer'.
To be honest Saied I don't think it would be fair for me to compare them based on the two that I have owned.
The 1.9 (see above) I bought for £900, I spent a bit on it but just got the engine to run properly. It was'nt in great condition compared to the 1.6 I have now, which I bought for double that amount and then spent another £2500 to get it spot on.
There are alot of people who say the 1.6 Is the better 'all rounder' that it's more composed and balanced in terms of its power and grip.
As far as engine performance goes again it's hard to compare, the 1.6 is a shorter engine with shorter gear ratios which makes it more revvy and zippy throught the gears where as the 1.9 has that mid range tourque which feels great. Bit more like Bungle!
Yeah thats it, The 1.6 is Zippy and the 1.9 is Bungle! There you go a true 'Clarkson esque' reply!
I'm sure everyone has an opinion on it. Its probably down to personal feel at the end of the day.
Hope that helps?

Mine had the 1.6 box with Mi16 final drive so it was pretty nippy.

Would have a 1.6 8V again though, much prefered it's character to the 1.9 which didn't feel as fun. 309GTi-6 is on the cards in the not too distant future.

If you haven't done yet, get yourself onto www.205gtidrivers.com aswell, uber useful website and forum there.
