Well, it was going begging as it wasnt getting driven and I just couldnt see it go to someone who wouldnt cherish it. Spur of the moment decision but one I hope I won't regret. Its been meticulously looked after, i can vouch for that. Had some water ingress issues but has had them sorted as well as a new stereo and OBC due to pixel issues. Runs perfectly, the V8 sounds fooking awesome, 50k miles on the clock, new tyres, recent service - really is in tip top condition and I rather hope it stays that way or im kinda screwed money wise!! The £4k i paid for it could be doubled in one trip to the garage I'm sure. Insurance was surprisingly good. Policy added onto my Admiral (now multicar) policy.

99T reg, one of the last produced I'm told, one owner from new, only run on VPower/Optimax for the duration 4.4 V8 Sport model. Individual Romantic Red with Champagne Leather...

I introduce to you, the Z4's new friend...

Wish me luck!

WAS the old mans car.

Name change as I get bored easily.

Nope, i just thought Mental was a bit, mental really.

But I do appreciate the concern and attempt at belittling.

As you were...

Have I read that right? You've paid £4k to insure that 8 series?

You read it right but I had written it wrong. £4k was what I paid for the car. Dunno why I wrote that!

You have to consider the cost of the cars. 123d - it's a company car.

£12k Z4 and a £4k 8 series...

I have many friends who have gone out and paid £20k+ for a Golf/1 series/Freelander etc and a few who have spent their £16k on something made by Ford/Vauxhall.

I am not giving too much away, I've got a reasonable job and a few interests outside of this which during before/during uni allowed to stash a fair bit of cash.

ETA: http://www.pistonheads.co.uk/gassing/topic.asp?h=0... - although I asked this chap because I was genuinely interested... he wasn't confronted with comments like this... despite his one car being twice what I have paid for them all and his insurance being 3x.

Mmmm I love them 8 series. Does it feel quick, or is it quite barge like?

Its not a quick car off the line, similar pace to my Z4 by the feel of it - but it seems to have more pull across the whole range at the V8 sounds fantastic when you plant the old right foot.

Its quite heavy but despite this it can still go around corners, but its certainly no race car. Its just a cruiser tbh, a big GT from years gone by.

I was driving it around yesterday and the looks this thing gets are unbelievable, for a sub £10k car you ask anyone who doesnt know what it is, I'm convinced they would still think it was a 50/60k car. I just want a private plate for it now, disguise the age a little.

I think so too.

The reason my old man got this back in the day is due to the fact that Ian Rush used to own a white 850CSi and it was absolutely stunning. We used to live next door to a premiership footballer, going back to about 1998 and Rush used to regularly park at the end of our drive - he fell in love with it.

It just doesnt really get driven now, and from his POV it was a little pointless keeping it.

Do you live in West Kirby mate - some of those houses look really familiar but I can't quite place them?

Nice car BTW thumbup Always liked the 8'ers and I don't think they've aged badly at all. Just hope it doesn't cost you a fortune to run it wink

Holy heck that little for that much. Stunning car and you are very lucky. Instant profit on that if you were to sell it. Which being sensible you wont.
