Show us you track day projects...
Discussion
As it says really. I am very keen to start a track day project of my own to a certain budget meaning I can have a nice car for everyday and not wear it out on track. I have done a lot of digging around both on here and the web finding a few good diaries but thought it may an inspiration to myself and others if we started a thread in one place. If you have a project where you have bought a relatively standard road car and modified it making it more suitable for track then post it up here. I suppose a before shot, where it is at now, and some pictures telling the story in-between with a bit of a summary about the car and your future plans?
Myself and as I am sure many others will be really interested to see what you have...
Many thanks in advance,
James.

I was inspired after having a few passenger laps in this one:

Still work in progress....
£500 BMW 325i E36 Coupe with a few knocks and scratches but mechanically sound. Ripped out interior seats, carpets, boot lining and sunroof. Spent another £700 on wheels, strut braces, steering wheel (not pictured), seats 3 point harnesses and hammerite!! Still got to spend on coilovers, brakes, induction kit and of course a weld in cage (I just like it super-light-weight without the cage right now!!).
Already a hoot to hoon.
Good luck with whatever you go for.

Great to see people really use all sorts of different cars which have they're own individual merits. 'Sniff Petrol' your build looks like it's coming along nicely. I had read the thread that inspired you, another great project too.
The two door Volvo could be interesting...
Keep them coming,
James.

I want to get my stripped H22 civic road legal so I can sell it and do precicely as you have done. won't be as daft as the civic but having got a rwd daily driver, I badly want one for playing in!
Bought mine on a bit of a whim really, after seeing some cheap E36's in the auto-trader I had a look on ebay and found mine. Got on to PH around the same time and followed Benny C & Sniff Petrols projects with interest. There is also a lot of useful info on bmwtrackzone.com , I highly recommend taking a look at the "Paddock" section on there.
this one should be quick (when it's finished eventually )
part way fitting a S2000 engine and gearbox
it wll be getting a full restoration as well as the engine. so it will be a couple of years at least before it sees the road or track. the balance of the car should be pretty good as the front of the engine sits just on the centre line of the front wheels. the car itself shouldn't weigh over 800kgs and have around 200bhp (i'm fitting weber 45's )
oh and the Honda S800 is a tiny car

it will have none of those graphics, the bumpers will be back on and it will have a full interior. i shall be keeping those wheels and keeping it red but with a satin black bonnet and satin black around the rear lights. the only tell tale will be the bonnet bulge wont be quite in the original position.there is a lot of work to do still so it will be years before it is done.
