Restoration Blog - Starting with pics of my new toy!
Discussion
You may remember I was looking for a cheap car to take touring through Europe this year?
Well, I've blown the original budget by some margin (£1000!) and decided to do things properly!
I'll be going to collect her later this week, and taking her straight to my grandads garage, to take off the trim and lift the engine out, then it's straight off to the body shop for new door skins, a new rear bulkhead (there is a big speaker hole at the moment!) and a bare metal respray.
Colour suggestions welcome, I can pick anything really although gumetal grey is in the lead at the moment. I definitely don't want just another tartan red mgb roadster
Once that's completed, it's a full set of rubbers, a fresh interior kit (again, colour is open atm) and putting the trim and engine back in.
Oh and she needs a name
Hope you like her!

As for colour,BRG with beige leather?
Steve
I personally don't like green cars, sorry! As for colour,BRG with beige leather?
Steve
Old english white with red leather, or primrose yellow with navy leather are other options.
I nearly bought a fully restored 'A' that was finished in that combination, very nice!

That's a great looking car. Well done.
I'd go for a dark colour and complement it with body coloured wire wheels. Then it would look the business. A good dark grey would suit it perfectly.
I presume you are doing so but check the box-section sills - they're a B bugbear.
Keep us updated!

I had a period radio already fitted in one of my daily drive classics it was nice to listen to Classic Gold to and from work and because of this I bought a period radio for my next classic
I got a New Old Stock (35 years old but still brand new) radio and whilst I was used to the period sound I'd forgotten about the signal fading and the whisles and need to retune on long jouneys plus the volume just isn't there for motorway use
Cassettes were never that good as a media either each time they're used they degrade and wear the tape and the player (remember cleaning the and demagnetising the playback heads)
Do yourself a favour put in a covert or discrete modern CD/radio and speakers
