My 1978 MGB Roadster
Discussion
Picked up my new MGB yesterday, thought I'd post a couple of pics up.
Got the car for an absolute bargain price, there is no rust or scratches what so ever on the car, rostyles are perfect and it is mechanically sound . Project includes doing interior up and possibly fitting chrome bumpers.

What's the interior like? And do you intend to upgrade any aspect of it, or perhaps lower ride height and give it chrome bumpers? (The rubber is great for today's parking habits, but doesn't do much for its handling.)
Interior is best described as VERY 70's Going to look at sorting out the interior first, then I will probably give it some chrome bumpers and lower the ride height, sort handling and put on bigger brakes (MGOC do kits), then if I keep it I may well look at sending it to the MGOC for some engine work to make it go a bit quicker

Looks jolly tidy!
Best of luck with it.
Thankyou, it's in lovely condition No rust, no scratches, two really tiny dents, thats it! All for a price of £1695!! Best of luck with it.
Mechanically it is completely sound drove it just over 50 miles back home and did not miss a beat, also fitted with a Kenlowe fan.
Wow does this mean you've not got your Midget now?
Other than FULL proper servicing, maintainence and repar do not spend any money on "upgrades" until you've regularly used your classic for at least 9 months
Best value upgrade/tuning you can do on a classic is a FULL and proper 36,000 mile service
and unles they're very new or in very good condition change battery and battery coonectors/leads and earth leads
plus change ignition leads, dissy cap and rotor arm (these are difficult to establish the true condition of and are cheap so change them)
Apart from K&N air filters and when require as a replacement a sports exhaust engine "upgrades2 are expensive and can spoilt the MGB IMO
Nice looking B

Very 70's interior let me guess brown and orange striped seats?
Not in a black car - black gray/silver "deckchair" stripes The orange are hard to live with (I had those in my '78 B) but I would put up with the black grey for as long as possible as you might even get used to them plus whatever money you spend to replace them you're bound to need immediately for a repair - that's how Sods Law works
Good looking car from the pics. I have a '72 MGB roadster which I have now got into great shape. Check the two rails from the floor pan forward (the engine sits on these) and make sure they are in good shape. Plus check the sills very carefully (there are 3; inner, middle and outer, the latter being one you see and of least importance). Keep it stored or covered and it'll give you great service. Best of luck.

It'll give better service if it's used regularly and does more 6,000 miles a yearI think like all my MGs this will one will sit outside all year round but will be used so will do better than a car that is stored and if it's used daily you don't need or bother with a cover
For your next car Nicola, now you've had a 1500 Midget and MGB get a (good condition) 1275 Midget I'm sure you'd appreciate it
Thanks all
Yep it will be used daily and kept outside .... please no one say it is sacrilige I like to use my cars
Going for a proper service at my local MG specialist as soon as I can get booked in.
Yes it's the grey stripey cloth seats
My Midget is now gone I do miss it but like a little bit bigger car, as I do quite a bit of motorway driving now, as well as fun B Roads!
Please don't talk about my next car ......... it's a bit of a joke in the Midlands section and I'm trying very hard to erm keep this one, probably by spending so much money on it that it won't be viable to sell.... Though you never know with me, I may have changed my mind come next month, until you get the MGOC mag arrive with some other amazing project (fab 1275 Midget in this month!) and your enthusiasm starts again so you just HAVE to go out and buy another MG!

Still having a car is better than no car at all, especially at this time of ear

My pixels are fine, thought it was the 7 which suffered from that? Your car will look lovely when finished

A lot of E39s suffered with the pixel displays failing, and BMW refuse to even acknowledge this as a design fault Out of several cars that I looked at, only one E39 had a working display. My one is only readable every so often, kinda annoying as I'm not sure what the mileage says or temperature reading. Even my green service lights don't work properly But its a simple fix and much better than spending £400 so BMW can do it...
Glad your enjoying yours
