Hi,

Advice please.

I'm selling my impreza turbo as I am going to be doing alot more miles to work and back.

I'm after a small hatchback, normally aspirated, 1.6 or less, revvy (16v if possible.) And all for under 2k!

Thoughts at the moment are S1 106 Rallye (as i loved my 306 Rallye,) Lupo sport 16v (thinking of the bigger picture...)

Have owned mainly French cars (172's, Rallye,) minis and the impreza.

Thoughts guys?

I know it's a 1.7 but i would recommend the Puma. I bought one for the better half and i drive it more than her. Nice revvy engine, munches the miles and comfortable for 6ft+ person. Loads of good ones to be had for that money. HTH.

Good shout. The puma is a fantastic drive, with a really good engine.

Honda Civic VTi MB6 I know it's a bit bigger, but if you want revvy how does 8250rpm rev limit sound biggrin

106 rallye, great car fun little car.

Makes you realise you dont need a big engine to have fun and make progress on a nice country road!

Such great feel through the steering wheel on this car, highly rate it!
However they aren't the most reliable if you get a cheapie, but for 2k you could probably get a minter!

Picture of mine..

You won't get a very good lupo sport for under £2k, you're probs looking at at least 2.5k for a good example, plus the gearboxes and pedalboxes are like paper.

I used to have an arosa sport, same as the lupo but different front end a and slight difference in spec, was a fun car to drive and pretty nippy, you could probably pick one up for £2k but they are few and far between.

I'd probably opt for an oldish pug at that price though, like you said 1.6xsi or simular.
Or a saxo VTR, plenty about.

Seriously go for the puma! as long as you are less than 6'1 you can get 4 people in them they pull and pull and are just generally good fun to drive.

I meant if you want to get 2 people in the back it lacks leg room if you are over 6'1ish if you get my point mate. I love driving my good ladies one (red) great fun really responsive and revvy.

I had an Ignis Sport for a while. It was great fun to drive and went well enough, but got crappy economy of about 30mpg. My Fiesta ST does better than that and it's a 2 litre.

No sound deadening to speak of and very little in the way of luxury other than wheezy aircon, but good smiles per mile.

I've never had a car that came in for more derogatory comments from friends/family, and I had a smart car...

Anyone fancy a swap?

1998 uk turbo, 168000 miles, looking for £1800.00.

Sensible mods, see my classic impreza thread from a few weeks ago.

Looking for something of similar price or less smile

Based near Edinburgh.
