250 horsepwer 2.8 v6 keeping the 5 speed box from the 2.0 its geared for about 120-130mph and its pretty quick till the top speed,
its got a mk2 x-pack and whale tail and club front spoiler its diamond white with the 2.0s 13" 4-spokes what im wanting to know and people to suggest things about is the engine i will notbe able to insure that monster so ive been thinking of either the 1300cc out of a cortina/escort or a 1600 laser im aware of adam frasers project i want to know also is 13" minilites a good option? also what insurer been looking at adrian flux any suggestions would be good thanks

Sweet first car. I've been with Fllux for about 3 years now and generally happy with them, they're also cheap! Only thing you may find is I believe that you need atleast 1years no claims before they insure you.

Sounds wicked, but how the hell do you get 250bhp out of a Ford 2.8 V6 without forced induction?

Sensible move if you're going to fit a smaller engine would be a 2.0 litre pinto and make it 'back' into a 2.0S. That way it will be an 'original' classic car and therefore cheaper to insure.

Sounds great.

Impressive power figures - Does it have the TurboTechincs kit fitted?

On the engine front - it depends. It all really depends on insurance costs. Find out how much it would cost to insure all 3 of them, the 2.8, the 2 litre and the 1.6.

It will be a hell of alot easier to mate the 2.0 litre gearbox with the engine it was designed for - I've heard of many a problem getting dofferent gearboxes fitted to the pintos, whether these are true I am unsure but CassicFord had a good section on it a few issues back.

For wheels, it really depends what you like. If you are going for minilites get something bigger than 13". I've got 13" RS 7 spokes, and as lovely as they sit under the arches... they just dont seem right. Got my eye on a set of 15" RS wheels from a 280 Brooklands, but Also have a set of mini-Cosworth wheels in the garage too, which need a small spacer to bring them further out from the arch, as the tyre just rubs on the suspension.

What work needs done to the X-Pack kit? Some home bodywork projects can be daunting (especially if you are unsure), and due to conditions, some jobs just turn out not as good as intended. If i were you, get the 2.8 out of there, sell it (to me preferably laugh), spend that money and more that you have saved on getting the bodywork sorted.

Give us a shout if you need any help.

Oh, and eBay is a great resource. Good tip though - dont go on it when drunk - many a purchase for my Capri has been done then... biggrin

Im turning 17 soon and Adrian FLux wouldn't insure me on a 1.6 laser. it's going to be very difficult to get insured on that sort of a car.

Could you not just finish the car off, then sell it and just buy a smaller engined capri? Then use the rest of the money on insurance .

Why not put a newer smaller capacity engine in there?

One of the Zetec lumps should shift it along nicely, and you can get them dirt cheap out of mondeos and the like.
