Good morning fellow PH'ers.

Been coming to this website for a long time but never posted before, but now I have a serious dilemma I need your help with.

I need a new motor. There are a few things that it must be:
Fun to drive
Preferably RWD
Can be used as an everyday car
Affordable to maintain
RWD! spin

I think thats about it. I have around £7k to spend, would like to be less if possible and will save more if something comes along, but not much more. At the moment I have an FTO which, for what it is, is a great cheap car that's fun and handles well (best FWD I've owned anyway). But I miss my old car, my '74 V8 Capri which was bonkers fun.
My next car will be my everyday car for going to work, the pub and some infrequent long motorway journeys. It doesn't need to be sensible but I don't want to get wet ro be left stranded miles away from home etc.

So far I have looked at these:
TVR Cerbera (would have to save a bit more)
TVR Chimera (might get wet?)
Older TVRs (S1/2/3 3900M)
Honda S2000 (I prefer torque to high-revving malarky usually)
BMW Z3 (I don't find other Beemers much fun to drive)
Datsun 240z (My god I like these)
Mazda RX-8 (too new and wasn't impressed with the engine)
Lotus Elise (I'm going to get wet aren't I?)
Opel Manta 'A' series (standard ones are a bit boring)

And probably some others I can't think of right now.

I think top of my list would be a Cerbera but they ain't cheap and it's TVR so is running it going to be silly expensive? Where are the costs in this?
S2000s appeal because they're cheap to run reliable etc but the power being in the last 2k rpm puts me off.
I like older cars too, but I'm starting to think newer cars will make more sense if I'm doing 10,00 miles a year.

So what is missing from my lit? Which should be removed from my list? And what the bloody hell am I doing spending £7k on a car??

smile

Thanks for reading, and please let me hear your thoughts.

Matt.
