Hi Ph'ers

I'm a long time lurker, 2nd time poster. I'm a personal member of a few MR2 owners clubs and through my work, many other car clubs.

I thought some of you would like to see my pride and joy Mk1 Mr2

The MR2 started out as a UK spec Mk1 (b).

In 2006 it had an engine transplant from a 1992 Mr2 turbo, this was carried out by a company called Woodsport who specialise in all things MR2. The old (4AGE) engine produced 122BHP, the new (3SGTE) engine produces 220BHP standard and with a few tweeks now puts out over 250BHP. Obviously with the extra power, the MR2 needs a few supporting modifications, I have now added a full suspension set up with polybushes and also larager front brakes taken from a Celica. You'd be amazed at how many parts are transferrable from different Toyota models!

In 2007 the Mr2 underwent a full body restoration including a custom wide arch kit for the rear arches and respray in the original Toyota gunmetal grey.

My Mr2 is 'work in progress' and will be undergoing a few more changes in the future.

I hope you like!

Cheers.. Weight is unknown, but probably heavier than you'd think. I'd say 1100Kgs (guesstimate).

It does shift. I ran a 13.3 quarter mile a couple of weeks ago on my first run of the day, and that was with a dodgy start and lazy finish. Unfortunately it snapped a driveshaft on run number 2! The car is a test of patience at times but I wouldn't change it/sell it for the world.

Thanks! The original plan was to keep it completely standard looking (original wheels etc) but one thing led to another, I'm sure you know how it is! The red B reg Mk1 in the picture is completely standard, and will stay that way.

The car has the potential to surprise some very expensive manchinery but it is quite rare I use that power on the roads because you are up to silly speeds in no time.. but in answer to your question, I think the Carrera 4S driver I encountered one day got a bit of a shock : )

Awesome!!!!!!!

You are clearly a mentalist given the carnage on your lawn - I love it! A good friend of mine had a mk1 MR2 at the same time I had a Celica GT of the same era - the pretty one in other words! We had a cracking time!

It's a bit 80's in there!

When funds permit I'll be looking at Mk2 or Mk3 MR2 seats to make it a bit more modern in there.
