Since I have registered on here I thought I'd better stick my oar in, even though there are some proper motors on here, jealous? moi? never biggrin. Anyway here's a couple of photos of my daily driver.

damn you! my sunny has 173k on the clock, however your golf looks very tidy, unlike mine.

I like it biggrin

Looks like a very clean example... Your car history looks like fun too tongue out

OT: Are 309gti's actually noticeable better than the 205gti's? Some people seem to say the handling is much better??

lovely, doesn't get much better than a subtly modded mk2 GTI. Take the eyebrow off and it'd be perfect cool

No need to worry about the mileage. A friend of mine has a mkII GTI with 212k on the clock and its still going strong. Pulls like a nutter but the car isnt exactly what you'd call a minter! Your car is a beauty.

Cheers for the bigups peeps, I did try it without the eyebrow for a bit, but prefer it with, that'll probably change again soon.

As I mentioned in my profile I do love a hot hatch, particularly as a daily driver. 309 GTIs are generally more forgiving when you are getting near or on the limit with the longer wheelbase, but the handling of a 205 gti is sublime if you find a goodun (which is difficult nowadays being French).

If I had the money I would try and stick a supercharged R32 engine in the MK2, but that will have to wait! rolleyes

looks like a nice ride, subtle suspension drop an grill change, flat wiper an cant see much else but you dont need to do loads to a mk2 as they look great from stock!! If you like the grill spoiler keep it- they work better with single headlight grills imo. Although since winter is approaching i tend to favour putting 4 lamp back so i can see where im going!!
its difficult to see what colour it is in the light- -is it a black/blue or royal blue. either are great colurs.

182k means there is still plenty of life left in your 16v so long as you do regular oil and filter changes. Have you ever had the sump off- worth cleaning the oil pick up pipe as they can get sludged up at high millages. Also valve stem seals start to allow a bit of oil to get burnt.

Ive had a 16v on 232K and apart from servicing i only ever changed the valve guides+stems!!!

if you do get bored of the 16v an fancy some 6pot howl a VR6 isnt as difficult as you might expect.....

Nice. As others have said, it's still a young 'un. I had a 1985 Mk2 GTI which was still running fine on its original engine with 286,000 miles on the clock when I sold it.
