Hi,

Well I've been around here for a few weeks now and thought I ought to introduce myself with a pic of one of my cars, particularly since I am so pleased with a recent change I have made!

This is my CL55 AMG (2003) which has just come back from the dealer having had the alloys refurbed. Ever since I got the car I have felt that the factory finish of silver is a little bland and I have finally got around to doing something about it!

This is the car BEFORE the refurb ...

and this is AFTER ....

Hopefully you'll agree that this is a big improvement too and makes the car look just that little bit special. They almost look like they could have been like that from day one!

Here are the wheels in more detail....

Polished outers with smoked chrome spokes.

Cheers!

Real nice looking car,the wheels look so much better now.I have an E55,i had the wheels colour coded to make it look a little different.These AMG,s are awesome cars and are a lot quicker than most people think.I use mine everyday and never get tired of it.

Wrong ... wink

Quad exhausts are present on post-2003 55AMGs ie when Mercedes supercharged the engine. Pre-2002 CL55s were normally aspirated and had single ovals (like mine)

I drove the new CL500 on the weekend....fantastic car to drive, really loved it.

Got to say though that I agree with Clarkson, the rear window line is 10 times more cohesive and better looking on your CL. Looks a bit wierd the way it slopes down on the new model.

I agree. I'm not sure what they were thinking of with the back end of the new one! It looks like the designers all went home and left the cleaner to finish the job ...

Your right about the exhaust,mine is a 98 model and only has the twin pipes on the nearside.I have removed all the boot badges so apart from being lower it looks like any other normal e class merc.

Beautiful car, I will definitely own one of them one day. Wheels look great!

What BHP does the N/A V8 produce then?? My dad drives an SL60 AMG (with a similar colour scheme on the wheels actually) and I'm interested to compare the 6.0l with the 5.5l...

360bhp / 391lbft torque.

Frankly it is plenty and I don't have to look at the little yellow traction control triangle as much as a CL55K driver ... biggrin

I had to look it up but it seems it is!

"The M113 5.5 is a 5.4 L (5439 cc) version with the same 97 mm bore as the E500 but with a longer 92 mm stroke. Output is 342 hp to 367 hp (255 kW to 270 kW) at 5500 rpm with 382 ft.lbf to 391 ft.lbf (510 Nm - 530 Nm) of torque at 2800-5400 rpm.

Applications:

* 2001-2002 CL55 AMG
* 1998-2002 CLK55 AMG
* 1998-2002 E55 AMG
* 2001-2003 ML55 AMG
* 2001-2003 S55 AMG
* 2002-2003 G55 AMG
* 2004-2008 SLK55 AMG
