Picked this up on Saturday. These are just the pics from the trader's advert. Will post some better ones once I have had a few jobs done and given it a good polish etc.

Details;

1999 'T' BMW 328i Sport
3 Previous Owners
63,000 miles
Fern Green
Light Grey Leather

Jobs to do;
1. Wheels need complete refurbishment as are very badly corroded, think I have found some on ebay on an exchange basis;
2. Sort headlights which both have condensation in;
3. Sort wing mirror housing / mounting bracket (triangluar black bit) as this has lost its black colour on drivers side and is now an odd limescale colour;
4. Source and fit a genuine BMW CD Head Unit to replace the standard Cassette Head Unit;
5. Treat a few of the paint imperfections and give a good polish; and
6. Maybe fit some lowering springs (eibach?) to reduce the ride height a bit.

Thanks

My word that must be one of the last e36's on a T plate! Very nice love the wheels and the colour suits very well! Is it Boston green? ETA Must read original post more carefully nonorolleyesbanghead

Fern Green apparently. Thanks for the compliments!

I think there are a few 328i sports around on V plates, I feel lucky to have find one with low miles.

Looks great, colour as said suits it well....is it these engines that were restricted from the factory? and benefit greatly from larger throttle bodies .etc from a 5 series

Have always liked the E36 Coupe

That's really nice, I'm a fan of Fern Green. I'm tempted by another e36 as a daily driver and I think it needs to be a sport. Is it manual and did you get it for a good price? smile

The misty headlamps are very common and I cured mine by 'delensing' (removal of inner lamp glass) and I ran without the plastic covers in the engine bay. More info on bmwowner if you're interested.

If you were really tenacious with a couple of spare weekends to hand I'd suggest having a go at refurbing the BBSs yourself. I had a go on the Style 5s on my e31 and although not perfect, 200% better than they were.

Thanks for all the positive replies.

Jimbomofo; will sign up to www.bmwowner.com - and thanks for the email advice re: short shift kit and storm gear knob!

Matthew Eames; yes, I believe the engine is restricted slightly from the factory and this can be cured by a different inlet manifold, I may be wrong! Perhaps something for the future, but no immediate plans to do this.

Taita; I'd rather not say how much I paid, but I think it was a good price!

Wpo750; yes, it is a manual and I think I got it for a good price. Thanks for the advice re: headlights, I asked the question in the BMW group and got similar advice. Am definitely getting the wheels refurbed as they look very bad. Don't think I have the patience to do this myself though! Will get them refurbed somewhere. Your 840 Sport is lovely, always admired those, would love one one day.

Nick

Great car, have a 98S titanium silver 328iS & its unquestionably the best value car i've ever bought. All my mates that have been in it have subsequently questioned why they've spent £20k on their Gti / 3series etc ! It really is good enough to make you think why spend more for a fun practical car.

Looks great. Always think these look better than M3's to be honest, think its those wheels.

On the subject of wheels, if the company you mention on EBay is the one I'm thinking of (based in Blackpool?) then bear in mind that they will send you a painted set of wheels not polished like they're meant to be. I got mine done by them just before selling and they looked ok, but not nearly as good as a properly polished rim. Finding somebody who'll do them properly for a good price isn't easy though.

Good plan on the stereo but they're not that easy to find. I think one from a Z3 is what you're after.

I don't think I'd bother with the springs, looks perfect as it is.

Nice car, parsonally i think it would look even better without the spoiler (but that is just a personal opinion) i too love the sports and would always take a 328i over a 3.0 M3 (all things considered)....

Do you know if Fern green was an individual colour at the time? or a standard cost option metalic (i know its been both at various times).....but it is always nice to have a 'BMW Individual' car smile

Again.... Very nice car.

Colour is;

386 Farngrun Fern Green Metallic Green 51 91 1 052 574

Which I don't think is an individual colour.

Have ordered the eibach pro kit springs, being put on on saturday.

Really need to get the wheels sorted they are doing my head in! Found somewhere local but they wanted over £500 to take them apart and machine polish them properly. The place on ebay that does exchange sets for £240 doesn't have any in at the moment which is a pain, they are only painted as well, not polished.

Will post more pics once the car has its new springs.
