I've been lurking on the forums for a while and posting now and then, but I thought it was about time I shared some of my previous motors. Oldest to most recent, over the past 8 years.

'89 VW Corrado 1.8 16v

My first 'old' car having previously owned a (at the time) new mk4 Astra. Bought it for £1300 and spent more than that getting it tidy. I don't have any decent shots of it before the work, but suffice to say the paintwork was more pink than red.

Bodywork in progress (not my own work I must add)

and after....

I got it pretty sorted, it was never THAT quick though and when I was offered a VR6 at a knock-down price, I sold up and moved on to...

'94 VW Corrado VR6

I still rate this as the best car I've ever owned, the drive, the noise, the look... everything about it made me smile every time I saw it, drove it or thought about it. Sadly a issue with the handbrake resulted in it rolling away down the street and writing itself off, taking a couple of the neighbours cars with it!

(unsure on year) MK3 Golf GTI 2.0 8v

I'd always fancied a Golf, and decided with a baby on the way that a 4 door MK3 was a wise choice... what a let down! It wasn't a bad car by any means but it was nothing compared to either Corrado and I was very disappointed, so much so that when I changed jobs to one I could easily use public transport to get to, I sold up and relied on the (at the time) missus' Pug 206 when I needed a car.

Another change of job meant I needed my own transport again so...

'99 BMW 316is coupe

Fancied something RWD but still reasonable to insure and fairly family friendly. When this popped up on Ebay within 5 miles of me I snapped it up. Very clean for its age, little bit tatty inside and did need some work for the MOT but nothing serious.

Had lots of fun for a year, until...

Wet mud on the road, tight corner, driver inexperienced with major overstear. Add a dry stone wall and you get the picture. Unrepairable, at least with my budget, so it was sold on for parts.

Stupidly, I took out TPFT insurance on the BMW to keep the price down, so I lost out big time. My current 'ride' is an old mans '98 Rover 416, complete with walnut dash and paisley trim. It does the job for now until funds allow something more interesting... but its not worthy of photos.

That all folks! Hope you enjoyed.

Thanks smile have a look on www.the-corrado.co.uk inthe for sale section if you've not been there already.

IIRC the VR was just over a grand to insure fully comp at 25 with 2 years no claims and the BMW was around £700 TPFT, would have been more like £900 fully comp since I lost my no-claims when the VR rolled away.

Those Corrado's...very nice. Shame to hear the silver one came to a sticky end though!.
