First post and all that, so thought I would get some pics up of my shedcoupe to show the masses on here.

I bought the coupe of ebay back in September 2004 with a broken gearbox and not starting. The starting issue was easily resolved and the gearbox, I had a spare. So the plan was formed, to take my 2.0 16v turbo engine out of my Tipo and to put it back into a coupe. The engine from the coupe was put back into the Tipo and the spare gearbox i had, was put on and had a running Tipo.

Over the next 6 - 8 months, the coupe was built back up with the turbo'd engine from the Tipo along with various other parts I had accumulated along the way (coilovers, front mounted intercooler, different cam, etc..) So with everything fitted, I had it rolling roaded and it produced 232bhp @ the wheels, then a week later the piston went pop. Now, I was hoping for the engine to fail at a much later date, as i had a spare block at home that was going to be built up slowly, but this set back has sped things up a bit!

So after buying various bits and pieces (Forged pistons, forged rods, new crank) and giving it to Guy Croft who could be fully trusted in the engine build along with the headwork that went with it I had an engine built.

Then slowly I finally managed to get the other pieces i needed to finish this project off, namely the reasonably sized GT3076R turbo, 38mm External Wastegate, Bosch 044 Fuel Pump, external swirl pot, big K&N cone filter and various hoses and clips, I'm in the home straight, just need to finish wiring up the motec (M48 pro) to Fiat loom, sort the fuel hoses out, re-assemble the inlet side of the engine and then crank it over, get it transported off for the external wastegate routing and then mapped!

Of course, some piccies are needed smile

Bog standard

Engine No1 Fitted and running

232bhp @ wheels

Piston No3 gone frown

Treated to new wheels whilst engine build was under way

Stripped and all sound deadening removed

OMP 10 Point rollcage fitted

Harnesses and Seats fitted

Engine No2 fitted

Equal Length Tubular Manifold and GT3076R turbo fitted

Fuelling to plumb up

So there you go. A car I have owned for 4 years and only driven for 6 weeks and spent a small fortune on, god I'm so looking forward to driving this car again biggrin

Oh, and the engine strip down and rebuild pics are here

Well i'm hoping for around 400bhp, more would be good and the turbo is certainly capable of flowing more, so shall have to wait and see.

Ta for the welcome, have been lurking for the past couple of months and thought it was about time i registered myself on here smile

400bhp! yikes

Sounds like it will be awesome. How do you think it will handle all that power through the front wheels? Are you going to fit an LSD to it (do they have them fitted as standard?)?

Looking forward to seeing the pictures of the finished motor.

Since I've joined PH, I tend to spend most of my working day on here...

Coupe has a viscous drive as standard on both turbo models (16v turbo and 20v turbo), but are a couple of people running 400bhp+ and have no issues, even 1 chap has 550bhp and still has no issues, although, last time he tried to launch his car, he snapped the half shaft clean into 2 biggrin

I'll admit to having a little bit of a soft spot for these cars. I think the shape has aged well too when you think its about 16 years old now.

Had a brief run-in with a 20v turbo on a dual carriageway once. Not sure of the output but he buggered off towards the horizon in a haze of smoke and turbo hiss. Never did catch him to find out....

So, a bit of a bump on this really. Not a lot has happened in terms of finishing it, as it has been odd's and sod's taking up time, one of them being wiring. Take a loom from the MoTeC and join it to the standard Fiat loom, fun and games, but luckily i didn't have that headache, a friend of mine took the loom, cut the ends off and labelled everything up for me, so was a case of join the wires to the numbers biggrin

MoTeC loom

Fiat loom

Finished loom

So with that all in place, it was time to connect MoTeC up, upload a map i had for it, figure out why it wouldn't start and eventually was greated with this:

Now, all that is left is to get it up to OJZ Engineering to get the downpipe modified, external wastegate welded on, then it's off for some mapping woohoo

Shut it you wink

After swapping the gearbox on it over the weekend, it was a st job to do, but got it done and discovered that both front wheel bearing are completely knackered, so lots of parts being ordered up before going to OJZ at the beginning of April, then off for mapping, so hopefully making an appearance around May time
