Hello all!

Been lurking on forum for a while, noticed a drive starting at Shoreham airport on the 14th so thought i'd try and get more involved seeing as it's only a 10 minute drive.

I'm currently 21, a website developer, and living in Worthing down on the south coast. I don't know anyone as yet except for ironictwist who is an old school and college friend.

Anywhom, i currently drive a '93 Honda Civic VTi, UK spec with JDM/USDM influence. Standard engine at the moment, rolling roaded at 160.0bhp, but am currently having a new engine built, B20Z/B block, B16A2 head and some other parts.

Engine
Standard
Currently being built, eta end of Sept;
B20Z block
B16A2 head
Hi-Tech Tri-y copy manifold
Yowaii-SS carbon fibre induction
mFactory exhaust, decat, 2.5" pipe
RS 84.5mm pistons (with bored+honed block to match)
ARP stud bolts
eCtune ECU

Exterior
Bump strips, handles, sideskirts, grille colour coded
Front bumper smoothed, no front plate
12 Tune carbon fibre bonnet
HT Racing carbon fibre boot
Spoon Racing carbon fibre spoiler
15" Rota Grid's in bronze, wrapped in Toyo T1-R

Interior
EK9 red recaros
DC2 Type-r gearknob

Chassis
Daiyama coilovers, 10kg/6kg spring rates
Daiyama front and rear camber arms (-2.4 front, -1 rear)
Daiyama rear lower control arms
Daiyama DPX, in car dampening adjustment
Upper front, rear strut brace
C pillar brace
Front, rear tie brace (to be fitted)

Brakes
282mm prelude calipers
282x25mm MG ZS180 blank EBC discs
Ferodo DS2500 pads
Goodridge braided lines (to be fitted)

(now without front plate, hate the look of them, think they ruin the line of the car smile )

How much do these things weigh out of interest? And what power will the new engine put out?

I believe kerb and dry weight is 1050? Maybe 1100.

Currently it's 160bhp with 110ft/lb, hoping to reach 200+bhp and 160+ ft/lb. Honda engines lack torque, so thats the main aim for this build. Was going to get a 4.7 final drive to, but broke the budget, so that along with a LSD are next on the list, and after that a worked head to see me into the 240's. All fly figures sadly, but enough in a Civic. smile

Thought they'd be fairly light. Healthy power to weight ratio you'll have there wink

Those seats look lovely. I wish I could get a pair in my car, rather than the overweight electric monstrosities I have currently.

Me likes! Those wheels look great on it, the size, colour and design work perfectly with the rest of the car.... and with the extra horsepower.. lovely!! (Esp. when it gets to 240bhp!) biggrin

However, and this is purely a personal opinion, the bonnet and bootlid would look far better matching the rest of the car... I know they're carbon fibre, and that you want to show that off - but to my eyes it looks like an incomplete repair job.. Having said that, how easy is it to get a good paint finish on CF? scratchchin

To be fair, the carbon fibre items (spoiler being only exception) are fibreglass shells wrapped in a carbon fibre skin. They reduce weight a st load, but i doubt you'd notice it, but they are mainly for the look if i'm honest. I would paint it, but then it's just a very expensive standard bonnet, and i have considered doing that, as when it came out of the bodyshop it looked like...

I just fell in love with the clean-ness of the car, but i couldn't justify painting the bonnet, and i'm now very much liking it raw. :P

Cheers all, see some of you in a few weeks. smile

What compression ratio are you going for?

A friend of mine has a VTi and has just built and engine to the same spec you are, with 11.5:1 compression and an Integra Type R LSD box.

It makes 155lbft and 197hp, the mapper(CPL racing) played with the VTEC engagement and found it makes best power engaging at 3500.

On wide open throttle it makes 122lb/ft from 2200 rpm onwards, i.e. more than a stock B16 makes at peak!

We had a bit of a run, me in my MR2 Turbo, him in the Civic and I only started to pull away at the top of third gear.

Not that high i don't think. The engine builder is taking care of that. I've done everything else on car, but when it comes to the engine i didn't want to risk it. Plus i've just moved out, losing both my parents garage and my grandparents garage (used for storage of old stuff now) in the process.

Wow, that's a low VTEC point, surprised it still goes ok, usually that low it'll feel like a high boost turbo, lots of grunt, but towards the limiter it'll slow down as all the force is gone early on.

The mapper tried a number of VTEC points when setting it up and found 3500 to give best peak power, which is still delivered around 7700. I thought it odd too but it sure does go well.
