Had this for a few months now.

Clio 172 Cup in Iceburg Silver one of 33 made in this colour with Climate Control. So far its been remapped and has an induction kit to Aid breathing, Matched Inlets are on the way as well, just waiting for them to be sent out. Was rolling roaded at Janspeed last week and is doing 177bhp at the fly.

Booked on my 1st track day at Brands Hatch on the 21st August, mixed feeling of excitement and Nervs wink

Only 7hp after CAI and remap, ouch thats gotta hurt the wallet!

Guess it feels a little smoother, I've always liked them, and the idea of any car that like being grabbed by the neck and thrashed!

Technically its not touched my Wallet as its all been paid for by Performancetuner Mag and Perfomance french car who I have helped out for a couple of product features.

The 172 never actually made 172ps out of the box mine standard was 164.9bhp

Good to see some honesty about performance gained from mods to a car instead of the usual willy waving 'it's got a K&N and new exhaust that gives me 50bhp, said so on the box' smile

Good luck with the trackday!

The decision to fit a new exhaust was kind of forced upon me....when the OE back box fell off! Thought I'd stick a sports cat on it while I was at it. Very happy with it.

Plan to leave mine alone apart from perhaps an RS Tuner remap at some point (as its relatively cheap!). Don't think inlet manifold matching is worth it on an apparently strong engine like mine. Cams/ITBs' etc are all silly money IMO.

Its the RStuner Map 98ron I have on mine - WELL worth the 150 Euros they charge (Although I got mine for nothing) It makes the car feel like a new one and the 7600 Red line is nice wink

Cant reccomend it enough, even on a standard car I would say its worth it, I dont think there is a mod out there that offers "more bang for your buck"

No point in Willy waving power figures IMO

I always look to Rolling road before and after to check what power if any a modification has given and also to check the car is doing what its meant to with any changes made...

Quite nice.

Personally I'd add some carbon fibre to it though.

They are great little cars, must admit I really enjoy it.

that said the only performance cars I have ever had the pleasure to drive was an Evo 7 which was amazing, loved it but didnt love the fuel consumption and it was a bit big to chuck it about in every day driving. And an E36 M3 Evo with Nitrous which was good fun.

But for an everyday car i much prefer the Clio.

shouldnt renault be made accountable under the trade descriptions act? 7hp down? nice car though but why the need for manufacturers to put fake carbon fibre everywhere these days?

Renault didnt have any Carbon fibre on the car, i added that, and its not fake either.

The dash/Steering wheel/Gearknob are all Wet lay Carbonfibre, The Splitter is Glassfibre with Wet lay Carbon Fibre over the top smile

I think that statement (bold) needs some clarification hammertime. Some cars do make the quoted power some don't, rather than none did at all. The 172 Cups tend to make the power, allegedly helped by the fact that most of them don't have AC or Climate Control (I'm not expert enough to say why that should make a difference). As it happens J's Cup does have CC, so does back up the theory somewhat. Milage and how they've been driven matter too (engines loosen up nicely by 40k or so).
