Hi

I'm new to the forum, this is my GTi-R, it's been off the road for a number of years having a full rebuild, engine's been out three times to get it right. Passed it's MOT yesterday, so just need to build up some running in miles now.

Gave it a good clean and polish using the Meguiars 3 stage system, pictures below:

Also bought a new run around off a PistonHeads member yesterday, 106 GTi, took a while to find a totally standard black one with leather, but finally found one, really pleased with it! Picture below:

Nice looking cars!

Have always wanted a GTi-R but as it would need to be a daily drive i'm just paranoid of it letting me down!

What sort of spec is the GTi-R then? Is that a kevlar bonnet?

Cheers guys.

A GTi-R won’t let you down if you treat it with care. smile
Don’t live in Ferring, but do know a couple of GTi-R owners over that way.

Yeah, the bonnet is a hybrid of Carbon/Kevlar. The spec is endless, but a few of the main parts… HKS GT3037 Pro S turbo, HKS pistons, JUN cams, JUN con rods, Apexi Power FC ECU, PAR Gearset, Ceramic coated custom manifold/downpipe etc.

Just need to get some miles on it now before getting it fully mapped.

Indeed, spotted a young lad driving one, it's not really to my taste at all although I get the impression it does have a fair bit of "Go".

I like the 106 though lick

Nice GTi-R, who's doing the mapping? You can remap the stock ECU's now rather than having to use an aftermarket onewink

I know, mapping of the standard GTi-R ecu wasn’t really heard of back when I bought my Apexi, seems pretty popular now.

Not sure where I’m getting it mapped yet, will look into it soon. Horsham Developments was getting some good feedback last time I did some reading up.

That GTiR is an aggressive looking car! I was always impressed by them when I was young, but some how over the years they got forgotten, probably being based on a car that is so dull nipping out for a pint of milk is enough to make you want to end your life doesn't help!

Great car thumbup

Nice 106, good to see one in standard form aswell! Black aswell cloud9

Yeah Jez at H-Dev is recommended. Everyone on SXOC seems to be impressed with his works on the standard ECU (I have a remaped chip from him, huge improvement on my S13). With that Turbo I reckon you will need a AFM from a 300ZX (Z32), as the standard one doesnt measure air flow rates so well that high (apparently).

Nice motor, the SR20 can make some good power. Check out SXOC.com, loads of info on the SR20 that you may not know, and quite a few guys from different companys post there (Jez from H-Dev, Guys from Apex, etc)

Cheers for the feedback, will definitely consider H-Dev when I get it mapped.

I’ve got a Z32 AFM fitted, although that may still hold me back around 500bhp. Ideally I would have liked to swap it for a MAP sensor, but they didn’t make the Apexi Power FC D-Jetro ECU for the GTi-R which allowed you to do away with the AFM.

I read the SXOC from time to time, didn’t realise Jez from H-Dev posted on there, I’ll have a read through some mapping threads on there soon then.

I've been out in a Sunny GtiR (he hates it when I say that, normally I get Pulsar shouted at me) all I can say is that it is a amazing, Also scary as hell, easily more scary than the modded 300zx (650bhp) I've been out in.

I fully hold you responsible for the fact that i've spent all week reading up on GTiR's. I went through this about 4 years ago and in the end decided against it, but now i think my mind is made up and am going to try and grab a completely standard recent import and run it day to day.

So if it all goes wrong i'm coming to find you, hahaha!

But first i must sell my RX7
