S1 Elise Sport 160
Discussion
Well it's time to post some pictures up of my new toy. I'm really chuffed with the little Elise. It really is a hoot to drive and I would say my favourite car to date, I can't stop driving it. I think I'll be hanging on to it for some time. Its little rev hungry 1.8 rover engine has surprised me as they seem to have got so much bad press, but this tuned engine has so much character. With its lumpy tick over and it sound like it about to blow up at 7000rpm, this is all part of the fun in my eyes. It's also very good on fuel which is a nice change from the old RX7. It's not the fastest car in a straight line, but the handling and feel of the car is pretty much spot on and very raw. I'm now hoping to do a trip over to Europe and use some of there great roads again. The roads in the UK are terrible, they are full of idiots doing 42mph in NSL zones and when you overtake them they take if as a real kick in the teeth. Oh and all the new 50mph speed limits that have popped up every where. Sorry started to rant a little there. Oh and be warned you may want to put some sun glasses on as the colour is a little… well scandalous!
That is absolutely gorgeous
Had the pleasure of a couple of days hooning in Wales last month with a 160 in our group. Fell in love it. The lumpy idle and howling top end are brilliant! Awesome car. And I thought is looked good in black.....that green is superb! Suits the car perfectly.
I'd be so happy if that was mine

Great colour for a great looking car. Guess you don't drive in the dark much tho. I have the smoked headlight covers on my exige and it certainly.... err.... challenging!!
I was thinking the same thing, the standard elise bulbs are shocking, they must be horrendous with smoked lense coversRoad Pest said:
Looks great in the green! Thinking of getting one of these now the Exige has gone, not sure whether to hold out till September.
Great car, great Lotus, great colour. If you're after a Sport160 it will not matter what time of year you buy as they hold their prices really well, especially if it was one the original 50 SVA cars. I sold mine in May for the same price I paid for it a year before and the chap could sell it in a years time for about the same money...great little car.
If you are after a Scandal Green car I know where one is for sale....my old car (Tpxic Frog)....The chap has only had it for 3 months but is after an Ultima. If I had the pennies I would def buy it back. One of the best best Lotus I've owned.
If you want more info or want me to puch you in the chaps direction drop me a mail.
The head lights are shocking I may looking into upgrading them. The car doesn't really get used at night, so I'm not to bothered about the lack of light at the moment. Andy your old car looks very nice. The pictures don't really show how vibrant the green is. You either love it or hate it. I think mine could do with some new tires as the ones on the car now have started to perished and the car breaks traction quite easily. Which is fun but it's very much snap oversteer.
If you want a Sport 160 you have to be fast on your feet I missed out on two others which where black before I found this one. There are also not many in scandal green. I had arranged to go and see the car 2 hours after it was put on P/H classifieds and brought it the next day. Mine does have a few mile on it but has had all the nice upgrades done already. So I think (hope) I paid about the right price for it. Not that it really matters as I won't be selling it any time soon.
Also the Insurance is great. It qualifies to be on a classic policy, so is costing me peanuts. I'm insuring two cars now for a lot less than It was costing me to insure just the RX7.

I think they only made 50 Scandel Green cars, so I'm not sure how many are left. Was reading your posts over on the Elise forum. Mate, you couldn't have got a better Elise. You'll read lots of b1tchy posts on seloc and here from 111s owners s1agging off the 160 and questionning why they are so popular. Well now you know!!! Until you have one you can't understand. They are THE best Elise varient, simple as that. Welcome brother, to the excluive club of Sport 160 ownership !!!
They made 50 SVA sport160...only 7 were in scandal green the rest in black. Lotus then made a run out S1 Elise called Sport160S known as the WVTA cars which you could have in any colour. This car was a bit more useable had the same wheels graffics. You could option your 160S to the same spec as the Sport160. Lots prefer the later cars as they are not so lumpy and alot of Sport160 owners change the verniers and ECU to make them a bit more usable....me I left mine as standard as this was far more desirable to me....Used the car everyday and loved. More info in the link below. SVA cars hold their value very well and as long as you look after your Sport160 when you come to sell you should loose much if any money.....Enjoy your Sport160 Tom, great car.

That's a really nice example you had there Andy. If I would've known that it was on the market I would have bitten your hand off. I really like the alcantara recovered bits. I may get my car done at a later date. Mine has been changed to all black inside so no red.
I'm thinking of getting some semi slicks put on next AO48's Has any one done this?

Awesome car..
I seriously considered one for a while, until I realised that due to their rarity they're right up near S2 111S money....
I guess they're likely to be a raw-er drive and maybe a little purer in the elise way.. but the S2 111S has 156bhp anyway, and aircon, newer roof design, etc etc..
