With an upcoming change in lifestyle soon, I decided it was time to rest my 205 and get something sensible to commute in. This was a dilemma as I was looking for something that was still fun, but easy on fuel and insurance. Luckily enough a Puma turned up in the Pistonheads ads near home, in really nice condition with low miles. Its a 2001 1.7 coupe. Just flew through it's MOT which is a first for any car i have owned so far. It's good fun to drive, not too different to the 205, not massively quick but enough to make me smile. I will be holding on to the 205, and now its not required on a day to day basis, I will hopefully be able to make it into a more serious track car which was always the final target. Here's a few pics-

Love the Puma - brilliant little car. I have got to ask - what 'change in lifestyle' would make you buy one - it's hardly an MPV biggrin

Haha i suppose it's not a massive lifestyle change, i am just going from being a student where i was using a car once or twice a week mainly for leisure, to the real world with a job that i need to turn up to every day on time and not be adjusting ignition advance at the side of the road biggrin

thats exactly what I bought my puma for, Ive done 26k miles in it in 2 and bit years to make it up to 55k although mines a 1.6. The only problems mine has had are, a dodgy power steering pump and rotted rear brake hoses, apparently this can be quite common. Ive got a bit of rust showing up around the rear arches which is also a common complaint.

Pumapeople.com is great for all things puma, including your timing belts change interval which changed from what was originally advised in the log book. It looks like yours still has its original tyres which mine had when I got it and were a bit "lively" and loosv at the rear when some lift off oversteer was introduced although with a 205 I assume youre used to that anyway!

Yeah it still has NCT3's on the back, but Eagle F1's on the front, makes it very lively but not dangerous really. Even then i am half tempted to swap em front to back just so i can wear through the NCT3's and get some more F1's biggrin

I loved my puma...

Toyo Proxy T-1R are comparable to Eagle F1s, and much cheaper. I found the Toyos were great on the puma.
