Hello, I've already introduced myself, but have yet to introduce my car.

Can't technically call it my first, due to having a 1.1 Peugeot 206 for a 2 months, but what can I say, I got bored and having to travel 40 miles a day to a college and back next year wouldn't exactly be too fun in it, especially on the roads round here smile

Its a 1.8 Focus Zetec, done 77,000 miles, reg. in 2000. Managed to pick it up for £1600, which i think is a bargain considering its almost in mint condition too. Also managed to insure it for less than my Pug's premium cost me redface (I now currently have 36p in my bank account... but shush)

I think its a fantastic car, nothing special in comparison to the vast majority on here yet, but for a first proper car I'm chuffed to pieces.

Fully stock for now, hoping to keep it for the next 4 years or so, during which I might make some minor cosmetic changes eg. aftermarket alloys, smoked tail lights, standard ford rear spoiler but nothing major. As for performace parts, that will have to wait a long while, due to insurance and having the money!

Hope you like

Yeah, I had to replace the wiper blades when it was serviced. Hopefully getting some new plates soon, will look a heck of a lot better with them!

I know, it got me puzzled too.
My 1.1 cost me £1013 to insure. I rang up my insurers to ask how much a 1.8 focus would set me back, if i were to change cars... they said £800 extra!
So I shopped around a little, and Elephant offered me a quote for just under £1000. I was shocked! Cancelled my old policy in an instant.

Excellent choice and a bargain too.

Did a few miles in mine yesterday having not driven it for a while. A fantastic chassis and superb steering, I grinned far more than I should have done.

Sounds like you got a really good deal on the insurance (being a younger driver I am tempted to get one myself now, thought the insurance would be waaaaaaaaaaay more!!)

I wouldn't modify it though - but each to their own I guess.

She's probably cheaper since she has lady lumps (moobs don't count), apparently there safer drivers. No offence Louisa, working in insurance I see alot of claims that involve ladies.

Haha you're right though, I know more females that have made claims than males. But then again, I do know a lot of young males (and the odd female) who's wreckless driving is the explanation for us younger drivers' insurance prices soaring.

Not bad! Looks tidy. Stick on a new number plate and it'll look tiny bit nicer.

Hi,

I had a Focus before my present car. It was great, reliable, cheap to run and apart from some 19 year old managing to smash in to the side of it in a petrol station (!) no big issues.

I now drive a Beetle witha V5 engine, insurance jumped and compared to the Focus it is no way as nice to drive and as for petrol consumption 1.8 to 2.3 V5... it guzzles.

Good Luck with the Focus... good choice, happy motoring.

Looks like a clean example, it's amazing how the Focus has dropped in price, they are a real bargain now!

So I shopped around a little,
Indeed. Both right. To add me to my wife's policy cost £70, and to take my wife off my policy would cost £70.

Phoning, and Onlining around I managed to save about £300 down from £650 to £350 for 2 cars (oh we are both erm old too) Anyway in % age terms it's a vast saving you can get.
