Hey everybody, new member so first off, want to say a big hello smile
Secondly, I'm eagerly anticipating the delivery of my new 1.8 focus zetec tomorrow, after a few months of having a 1.1 206, shall be a nice change I'm hoping!

I'm wanting to do some subtle mods... only cosmetic as the insurance is already sky high. I originally wanted a black one but after finding my dark green one for a bargain price, I changed my mind.
I'm wanting to change the tailights and some other more subtle changes. But being green, rather than black, its not so easy... would you stick with the stock red lights, or go for some black tinted or black mirrored ones? I don't like tacky, and in my opinion, lexus style ones on a focus just seems tacky to me...

Also if anybody else has any other ideas for mods, let me know!
I was only thinking perhaps changing the alloys, lights and adding tints, no major modifications cos its just not my style smile

thanks
Louisa

If you modify anything on the car, it's best to tell the insurance company. So, either way, your insurance will go up.

Most after market lights are tacky.
Alloys you definitely have to tell your insurers about, have you asked about the price to change them?

I would look to the ST170 or RS, seems to be the best guise for a focus IMO. Keep the rear lights as they are
maybe look to ebay for some ST170 wheels, im sure there are a million focus owners clubs to get more info too idea

really cosmetic mods hardly make any difference on your insurance. had a punto with alloys and lowered and there was no change in the premium. but seriously cosmetic mods should be limited to lowered suspension and a tasteful exhaust and maybe some nice not over the top alloys. splitters on the bumpers maybe if they look goo but a lot look rubbish.

if its a mk2 focus i think the rear lights look fine anyway, if its a mk1 then best to just try and get a set without the orange bit. stay away from anything that looks too out of the ordinary.
