Hello all smile I've been posting for a little while, but I thought I would introduce my car biggrin

I'm a 17 year 6th Form student, so it's no stunner, but I love her smile

Its a 2003 '03 Mk6 Fiesta LX 3 Door, with the 8v 1.3 Engine (biglaugh) I managed to get a good deal - I used to work for the guy who sold it, and got it for £3.5k - Only had done 14k miles, but I'll come onto that in a bit rolleyes Looking at similar cars today, I'm sure I could get £4k+, so the plan is to keep it another 6-12 months, and try and sell for roughly the same amount I bought it for (anywhere over £3k would do me smile)

The main pull factors of the car were the std kit (Air Con, heated front and rear windscreens, leccy windows etc), the price, and the mileage. Well, back to the mileage, because of the low miles, the car has been nothing but trouble rolleyes The EM light has been on and off since December, and from the data from the ECU, the CAT converter, an 02 sensor, and a lambda sensor have been replaced (Fortunatly under warranty eek) - But to no avail frown Later on this week, I'm gonna change the plugs (again rolleyes) and see what happens. Then last week the AC pump has failed rolleyes Can only get better!!

Ignoring the faults however, I love the car - Handles well, only really begins to pitch when your being an idiot, the gearbox is lovely, and it returned 45mpg+ on the way down to Brands BTCC earlier this year biggrinbiggrin I used to race karts, so my main priority was something that drove really well. I almost bought an 04 Plate Ford Ka, but the safety issues put me off - A friend of mine was almost killed in a relativly minor shunt eek So this is a 4 Star Euro NCAP car, that still drives 90% as well as a Ka, yet can still fit more women inwink I'm all for that biggrinbiggrin

Hopefully I may get some clear indicator lenses, colour code the bumpers, and get some Zetec alloys just to finish the look off without it looking too chavy (hopefully!)

These are the Zetec wheels that I would like smile

Anyway enough of me blabbing on, some pics smile

I'll try and clean it this afternoon so hopefully I'll get some more pics smile

My dream car is almost in my grasp (MINI - Stop sniggering!!), so it will be with me for another 6-12 months smile

Hope you like it biggrinbiggrinbiggrin

Last week I picked up a mk6 fiesta myself and am thoroughly pleased with it!

Haven't got any decent pics of mine yet only this teaser...

Surprised by the build quality and how solid the whole car feels.

Anyway- nice first car, well done! Probably wouldn't bother with any of the mods you mention though - save the money towards getting the best possible MINI you can, or getting the MINI that little bit sooner!

Ah, heated front windscreen. What a timesaver that is. Really is damn handy in the winter, and also whenever it steams up slightly. Going to miss it (sold my Puma)

Yep, I found them annoying too, on a test drive of a Focus ST. I believe it's standard kit on them too, which was another reason I chose the VXR.

If you are thinking of changing anything, change the side indicator repeaters to clear ones as its a cheap and subtle upgrade that looks good.

Good first car, you must be well pleased with that at 17 yrs. PLEASE keep any mods subtle and don't turn it into the chav tat which has infested PH lately. Sounds like you have taste though, simple things like the wheels and clear indicators etc will be nice. Please no induction kits or peco exhausts!!!wink

Yep just the fairly early Mk6s - 2002-2003 was its lifespan, and you hardly see any around smile I do like those wheels I must admit biggrin

Good bit of kit cool I really like it smile I would have loved a Puma, but insurance was a killer frown Shame, such good looking cars, for what seems like a very small amount of money smile

It is tongue out Its got lots of go - Loads of low down torque - Its max torque figure is at about 2k rpm, so its like driving a diesel. Around the lanes though, its only getting about 25mpg which is crippling!! Ford claim about 16 secs to 60, but it feels more like about 13 - Not the 8 or so from the MINI though biggrinbiggrin

It was std. on the LX model upwards - They seem annoying, but I only really see them when I focus on them, so they don't particularly bother me smile

That's definatly the first on my list - Don't really like the orange ones smile

Thank you smile Yep, thats two whole summers of hard work and very little socialising biggrinbiggrin Glad though, seems like it was worth it biggrinbiggrin There will be no performance mods don't worry!! I quite enjoy how slow the car is to be honest - Means I have to work it, and if I'm able to keep up with quicker machinery around the lanes, I feel better for it smile

Thanks very much for all the positive comments, makes all my work seem well worth it!! Thank you very much biggrinbiggrin

I've used to drive a 4.0 Jeep Grand Cherokee off-road - That's proper torque!! I prefered the 1.3 over the 1.25 because that seemed gutless until you really revved it. The 1.25 was the quicker engine once it was up and running - But I didn't fancy paying over £1k extra for it smile

the 1.3 in the mk6 isn't the pushrod. it's based on it but it's a sohc.

you do have to razz the 1.25 but it's a really nice engine.

still as a first car that mk6 1.3 will do you well. great cars for what they are. well done for not shoosing the default but pretty rubbish corsa.

It is old tech - but I don't mind smile Cheers biggrin Everybody else has a Corsa in 6th Form - I don't think there's another Mk6 Fiesta in the 6th Form car park either eekbiggrin
