Our 5 Series M-Sport
Discussion
Well we took delivery of our new BMW 520d M-Sport yesterday afternoon and so far so good.
Upgraded to professional sat nav, bluetooth, extra airbags, lumber support etc etc ...
Not great pictures just now as they were just taken from my camera phone, but we're heading down the south of France in July so hopefully will get a chance for some good pictures then.
But for now :
Extra pictures will follow when i get the chance.

Broken down already? Not that you can see much with the plastic cover.
How do you feel the 520d copes with such a small engine in a large car? Personally i was a little disappointed.
Looks nice though!!

So far the car seems good, although anything is an improvement from the 2.0TDI 2006 Passat we had a few months ago. Engine bracket fell out which caused the engine to drop onto the road. 6k for a new engine then nothing felt the same after it was fixed so we decided to have a change
At the end of the day, although it can be argued, we dont floor it away from the line just to beat the guy next to us so we dont need 10000bhp. 70-90mph seems reasonable although a 530d-i would more than likely have been an improvement but as far as we're concerned it does the trick. 177bhp will do fine for just now even though the car is really heavy. Only time will tell.
With full leather the car seems comfy enough to sit in.
More opinions welcome
Paul
I had the 520d msport as a hire car for a week recently. My impressions were as follows;
1st and second gears could be longer, it was annoying having to change constantly at low speeds.
Steering is very light (I have get fit steering), although it gave enough feedback to judge speed and grip etc.
I didn't feel underpowered in everyday driving. Through 3rd and 4th it zipped along quite well.
It's a good motorway cruiser, it will do 90mph all day at 45mpg+.
The power delivery isn't too bad for a diesel, it comes in at around 1700 rpm, where cruising is 1400rpm.
The car with the msport kit really doesn't like rough roads, pot holes are to be avoided unless you want to loose some teeth.
In conclusion I don't think the msport suspension and tyre combo suits our roads. The car is clumsy at slower speeds and the constant changes at low speeds are annoying. Oh after a few days you get used to the stupid indicators.
