First car THE saxo!
Discussion
Well this is my first car 2001, done 41000miles. Very clean and not ragged.
Just having fun driving at the moment, insurance was £1600 which has made me skint! but thats why jobs exist eh. first thing is to put some alloys on and fit some decent suspension, thinking koni @ £300 or bilsteins @ £420.. cheapers better in my books. Just want to get the handling right first and then when im a bit older and get my new job intend in getting a hayabusa turbo engine conversion.

I assume your joking.
Do not bother modding this car in the slightest.
It will add no value and be pointless. I will tell you now the money you will spend on what you have just said will buy you an m3 in a few years.
Its a 1.1 saxo, it will sell again when your done with it very quickly as long as its still a 1.1 saxo.
A 60 bhp engine does not generate the power to even notice the better suspension.
Otherwise it looks nice.

If you want to mod it go for it (I see you fancy tracking it...) though as said above do not go crazy as you will never get any money back for what you put into uprated components - better keep it for a year and buy a vtr (half the insurance groups of the vts yet still a great drive) or similar. Bike engine would be crazy but realistically you will find it hard to get decent insurance and day to day driving would be rubbish if it's your only car. If I was you I'd consider some vtr/vts/106gti wheels and suspension but keep the original components so you can stick them back on when you sell the car and then sell on the uprated stuff. Loads of info for tuning Saxo's!
A few tasteful mods and you'd have a tidy looking car.
I wouldn't spend that much on the suspension. Buy a set of lowering springs for the front and adjust the rear torsion bar to match the ride height.
Are your wheels 3 or 4 stud? You may have trouble getting wheels if they are three stud. I'd recommend getting some hubs from a VTR/VTS or 106 GTI, they are four stud and you'll have a wider range of wheels to choose from. Don't go over 15" though, it will kill any feel the car has.

Gor you didn't get value for money with your insurance, I did a quote the other day for a Vw Jetta 1.3 and it was only £1,200 bearing in mind my age.
cheapest around mate, by myself and in london. Yea i dont intend in getting any money back for what i spend on the car, after all its only a saxo. Found some used citroen furio alloys £150 with tyres so getting then and will lower the car if i can be bothered.ahhh dont lisen to em saying dont modify it. if u wanna mod it then go for it, their right in saying it dont add any value to your car but at the end of the day if u enjoy it go for it. Their are so many modding parts for the saxo its unbelievable ur spoilt for choice.
had a 1.1 106 for my first car and did a few mods to it, lowered it, nice set of rim, looked pretty good, now driving a modded megane coupe. love modding cars because it make them look different to all the other cars on the raod and gives them more of a sence of character!!!
i wouldnt go for a more powerfull engine in it cause that would involve major work on suspention, brakes etc, its really not worth it. your prob better off with a few minor engine mods to start off with.
go for it i say, nice car btw

Anyway, don't modify it in anyway, your insurance will just go through the roof. Shop around for a better deal than you've already got before you do anything to it.
depends who your with mate, alloys, exhaust, suspension, tints and more put my insurance up by £20 a year, people are always banging on bout how much your insurance goes up, but really it dont. Ferg said:

What has happened to PH? Its full of people that modify little hatches.
..and have, in the short space of time since leaving school, lost the ability to spell and construct sentences. If they ever possessed it. Some of the posts now are quite shocking.
To the OP. Before you modify the car, consider modifying yourself. By that I mean get some good advanced driving instruction and learn to drive a car as at the moment you know how to drive to pass a test, not how to drive a car.
