Evening all

Haven't been on here for a while but I thought I'd better post a shot of my new Civic Type R. I tried to get a shot that would show off the Bronze paint, most people reckon its black.

Anyway, here it is, let me know what you think

Cheers

In the website feedback forum there's a post that explains how to do it right at the top (It's a sticky).

Nice CTR. Have you drove any other type-r's? How do they compare? What other quick cars have you driven before?

Firstly, I paid £19,350, its the GT version and has the bronze paint.

It looks good, sticks to the road like its on rails, goes like the wind and sounds unbelievable up to the red line.

This is my first CTR so can't compare with the previous version. I changed to this from a Civic 1.8 EX so no contest there. Previously I've had a Honda CRX, again no contest but extremely fun to drive, Cavalier Sri 16v, Astra Sri 2.0 16v and Seat Ibiza 1.8T FR, none of which hold a light to the type r.

I know Clarkson hated it and said the previous version was better but it couldn't have been that bad as Top Gear voted it the best hot hatch of 2007. The stig also got it round the track quicker than the Golf Gti and Ford ST.

When its not being driven in Dr Jekyll mode, I got 34mpg out of it going up to Lancaster and back on Wednesday. And its comfy too. I'm a large bloke and don't fit into the buckets that good but its still comfy on a long drive.

When I get in my car I call it Cheshire Cat time. I have never had so much fun in a car.

Cheers

It looks nice, how noticeable is the bronze? Or does it just look black most of the time.

Generally it looks black but in the sun you can tell its Bronze. It was parked next to a black civic when I picked it up, the weather was dull, you could tell they were different colours.

The new CTR looks very nice. It's not as much fun as the last one, it's more refined. The interior's are snazzy, but the car I had the dashboard creeked and i didn't like the huge expanse of dashboard in front of you - but then this seems to be the way most cars are going these days.

Great colour, will be a bugger to keep clean though!

Cheers chaps

I've had to wash it twice since saturday and it needs doing again. Its one of the colours that you have to keep clean.

I find the interior in the CTR less boring than the 1.8 EX I had before. The red highlights and lighting add something to the show.

They do look nice. i agree with above comments =]

I would have preferred if Honda didnt add so much weight to it though, and kept a proepr rear suspension setup like on the previous model, rather than a torsion bar =[
Would have been good to see how it goes round a track then.

I've got one too, but decided on Red:

It's an ok car, looks totally different to the other hot hatches out there. To be honest, I was going to get the Megane F1 R26, because it was amazing!!! Turbo punch, LSD, great handling...but decided on this as it's something different.

The Type R is great, but it understeers a bit on turn in when pressing on. The ride is also quiet harsh for some, but not me... Overall it is great, and the engine sounds fantastic! I've had to change my driving style slightly as with my previous car I could chuck it into a bend and it would just drive on through, but with this you have to take the slow in, fast out approach. Which is by no means bad I guess. You can provoke lift off oversteer though, which adds to the fun (with traction control off of course).
Worst thing = NO torque whatsoever!

Nice looking car - I can see why people think it's black but you've caught the flash on the front corner which shows the bronze!

I know someone who had one of these but swapped it for the S because of the spoiler blocking the rear view....does it bother you that much?

I must admit, ive driven all of the Civic in most engines, the feeling of pulling away from the lights and watching the guy next to you change gear, then planting your foot and winding the extra 3000 revs round is awesome, and i agree on the handling, stick like glue, pretty rough and rigid ride, compared to the GTI, Edition 30 and S3, i thought the damping was a little better. My only nibble at the new civic, is the huge body wrapped round the inners. I find it quite awkward to drive quick, posativly knowing where the edges and corners of the car are, but that would come with the more you drive it, i only do limited miles sadly.

I'll be on the look out for a bronze civic now biggrin.

arryb, I had the 1.8 EX before this which didn't have the spoiler but had the rear brake light across the rear screen, and I have to say the spoiler makes not one bit of difference.

It does take a bit of getting used to, knowing where the corners on the car are but you do in the end.

I'm really wrestling with getting one of these.

I love the interior...the seats are so incredibly comfortable and the exterior styling is so different its always going to make you smile.

I have not managed to convince a dealer to give me one for a drive yet (Aussie dealers get a bit touchy when it comes to performance cars especially when they take months to get in down here!) so I am just going off of the reviews.

Really how bad is the ride quality? Lots of reviewers dont like it...but I suspect that it just has firmer damping than the others?

I'm confused about the performance...again lots of people say there is bugger all torque but I have also read that its happy to tick along at walking pace in 3rd gear and will still pull away without shuddering?

Can it be driven quickly without wringing its neck?
