Toyota Levin. FWD with a high reving 1.5 or 1.6 (can't remember which)
Seen this one before on here, I am partial to a bit of rare Jap machinery and this one looks very nice. Does your one have an LSD?
I always thought this was Toyotas answer to the Integra Type R.

Insurance is okay but I don't think many companies like it because there are not very many in the UK. I heard of a guy who almost had his written off because someone smashed the passenger window and none of the glass companies could find any glass for it. Luckily he sourced one from Japan in the end. I found Bell were the best, and the only company I tried that a) knew what the car even was and b) had it on their system to begin with.
Performance wise, they are not too shabby really. I can't think of many 1.6 N/A's that would be quicker, they don't have heaps of torque but the power from 5,000rpm up to 8,250rpm is really good and the close ratio box makes sure you're always in the power band when you want to be. Can be a bit annoying poodling around town though. It also makes an epic noise! They have VVT but unlike VTEC it's controlled by a throttle position sensor rather than activating at a certain RPM so you can get a kick much lower down the revs. You do still get a feeling that all hells breaking loose when you hit 5k though as the engine noise changes completely.
Urmmm, 0-60 is near enough the same as a UKDM Civic Type-R EP3, but side by side my friends EP3 will then start to takeover around 90/100mph and at 135mph you run out of power yet the EP3 keeps going. Not bad for a 1.6 though, my friend reckons mine certaintly "feels faster" but you are much lower down and there is more noise.
Handling is great too. If you go for one, get one with the 5 speed box (6 speed was not very strong and also slower figures) and get one with the macphearson strut not the superstrut as they wear out around 60-80k and cost a fortune to sort out.
Anything else you want to know give me a shout.

Nice Levin mate, If you are ever stuck looking for parts for it try over here in Ireland...They are ten a penny!
Yeah I know, plenty of Irish owners on the AE111 forum! They have all the 86's there too haha. Thats a fantastic looking car - saw one a few years back and have continually kicked myself for not going for it.
I remember how good the engine was in the AE82 Corolla GT - slightly stripped out car, engine would pull to around 8k before the rev limiter pulled it back to around 7.8k
What sort of weight is the AE111?

The model I have weighs 1020kg stock, I've been toying with the idea of stripping it out since I've had it but I don't want to upset the weight balance or the handling too much as I'm really happy with how it rides at the moment.
You can strip them down to well under 1000kg quite easily though. Wouldn't mind some lightweight 16" wheels!
