Don't worry, no caravans in sight! bored so i thought i'd share. used to have a 320bhp(ish) Nissan 200sx s14 but i didn't realise i was so fertilesperm

with an expanding family the 200sx had to go and i needed something with at least 4 doors. always liked the volvo estates from the BTCC days so plumped for that.

the day after i brought her home and washed her. no reflections at all!

after a good polish

and how she stands nowsmile

took it to marham last weekend

somebody else also had a drive, i took this picture before the brakes hit as i wanted my eyes forward lol. pretty sure we hit 155 before braking but thats speedo speed, not actual

A brief spec

slightly bigger turbo running 1.4 bar
Innovate wideband lambda sensor
white injectors(slightly bigger then standard)
custom map
BMC CDA
uprated suspension and brakes. brakes need more help though.
need to get an LSD. was spinning the wheels in third coming out of bends at marham. destroyed a nearly newish Goodyear Eagle F1.
could go on and on but i won't.

what i would like though is your opinions, as long as it's constructive criticism i'm all for it.

Always had a soft spot for those paperbag . I love the new wheels and the black grill, gives it far more 'purpose' I think.

Looks nice and tidy too, I'd love one for lugging mountain bikes, surfboards and snowboards about but not sure I could manage the fuel bill!!.

I've been a fan of these since seeing them in the BTCC years ago. Looks smart, especially the wheels.

I think it looks fantastic now - what a great car!

The new wheels really suit it.

That is one very cool Volvo!

I remember watching them racing back in the day, they always bring back good memories.

Volvo are seriously cool. My favorite manufacturer outside of Italy.

I like Volvo's. Nice sturdy cars. And that one is a bit of a wolf in sheeps clothing.

I guess from the engine these are front wheel drive? I'd always assumed they were RWD, just from the body shape!

Nice car though, like to see a boost gauge as standard!

thanks everyone, i did want o get opinions from non-volvo people and it seems good. so far LOL.

thats the only downer to it really, i went from a hardcore rear wheel drive car to a front wheel drive with an open diff!! i'm sure i'll end up with an LSD at some point though.

there's obviously a lot more mods but i doubt anyone reads that, people would just want a gist of whats been done.

it did make 267bhp with the old turbo and will be going to the RR this coming saturday so will report back then. hope to make about 280bhp.

PMSL!! it has lights. but they're required for the MOT. it has a stereo and i'm sure it has speakers otherwise i wouldn't be able to hear itbiggrin

have to confess though, it does have a chav valveboxedin

okay, so lets start, probably gonna forget things but whateverrr

standard turbo is a 15G. slightly bigger is the 16T then the 18T and then the 19T. i have the 18T.
standard front pipe with bungs for wideband sensor and future EGT sensor
decat
2.5" catback
white injectors(slightly bigger then standard)
BMC CDA
Innovate wideband lambda sensor and gauge(lc-1)
BSR boost gauge
intake/charge temp sensor(now disconnected)
remapped. runs 1.4bar. standard is 9.6psi
A pillar pod
2.5 20 valve gearbox (apparently shorter ratios in 1st and 2nd)
reverse intercooler set up(shorter pipes, noticed earlier spool)
greddy profec b (disconnected now due to remap)
manifold from a later model(flows more)

thats all i can think of as far as engine and monitorings concerned

suspension is a bit of a mongrel
FK uprated front shocks
koni adjustable rears
FK lowering springs at front
bilstein lowering springs at rear
only thing i dont like at the moment is the rebound at the front seems too soft so will probably get koni adjustables for the front as well
front and rear strut brace
17" Volvo propus C wheels with 215.40 Goodyear eagle F1s all round (melted one of the fronts at marham. need an alternative now for the ring trip in june)
poly top mount
poly wishbone bushes

brakes

302mm Volvo front discs (std is 280mm)
police spec pads(need something better)
brembo rear discs and std Volvo pads
goodrich hoses all round

cosmetic
T5D5 sticker where i spend a lot of time
laguna front "splitter"(doesnt fit properly but less airflow under the car has to be good)
blackened std grill

i'm sure i've missed bits out but you get the idea i'm sure. actually reading it, seems like i've done quite a bit!!

ps. roof rails removed and the newer style V70 rear lights and clear indicators

thumbup Good stuff (more than makes up for the chav valve), the engine's not unrelated to the one in my car so I always take notice of modified volvo engines, gives me things ponder for the future maybe.

You mention Police pads for the brakes, are they a Volvo item from a dealer? I wonder if my calipers are the same as any Volvo's that might have Police pads available...... I've got my first Trackday next week and I think the brakes will take a beating.

they are a volvo dealer item but a lot of dealers won't have them. if they were the same you could phone simon at FRF volvo but i very much doubt they are the same.

or you could try don at kalmar union. he's a volvo tuner that's also doing some stuff for the focus. i know he's got some big brakes on his focus and is a truthful honourable trader unlike some i could mention.

I've heard of Don, he's on the ST owners club site a lot and appears to know his onions. I believe my brakes are the same as on the C30 but that's unlikely to have any Police upgrades I would have thought, being such a small car. I don't want a big brake conversion on the grounds of cost, but pads are doable but you here so many mixed reviews of the usual fast-road/track offerings. We'll see how it gets on next week, if they go up in smoke I'll make some enquiries!

Just out of interest - in the speedo pic - what are the warning lights that are on?
