Why all the lights from 4 to 7k on the rev counter ? Just to highlight the power band ?
If I'm not mistaken they disappear incrementally as the engine warms up, because you should never rev a car too hard from cold. Think of them as progressive redline markers. They dont actually stop you revving higher but are a good guide as to where is the sympathetic maximum for the engine. Why all the lights from 4 to 7k on the rev counter ? Just to highlight the power band ?

As quattrotom said, its a guide to stop over-reving the car when its cold. A system that now appears on all the M power cars, a good idea, however would be better if it has a movable limiter tied in with the LED's Why all the lights from 4 to 7k on the rev counter ?
