I am probably going to be buying the following.. Just wondering what peoples thoughts on these as a hooner/track type car are?

Below is the spec and some pics..

The engine is a standard 16v from a 1997 Saxo VTS with a warranted 67,000 miles which was rolling roaded in the donor car at 142bhp (graph from club RR day to prove). The rest of the running gear is either new or donated from a 51-plate VTS on 33,000 miles.

The car is fully road-legal:

MOT June '08
Tax July '08

The rest of the spec:

Std VTS engine on 67,000 miles (history to prove)
Just serviced: fuel filter, oil filter, new oil and new coolant
Nearly new Aluminium radiator
Ecosse 'ram-air' induction kit
Peugeot Sport 2" Gp-N exhaust

Bilstein Sprintline dampers with -40mm springs
New wishbones (incl ball joints)
New trackrod ends
New droplinks

306 GTi6 calipers
New dot5.1 brake fluid
Ferodo DS2500 pads (front)
Mintex 1144 pads (rear)
Brembo 283mm discs (front)
Drilled solid discs (rear)
15" 306 GTi6 cyclones with worn A048s 195/50s (track - maybe one more day left in them)
16" OZ Superleggera black (road - see note on price)

OMP ten point roll cage
Cobra Evolution bucket seats on Cobra mounts
Sabelt 3 point 2" harnesses (red)
OMP 3-spoke Corsica suede steering wheel with boss (temporarily removed in photos)
Battery relocated to rear in carbon battery box
Interior resprayed
Fire extinguisher (missing in photos but fitted to cage)
TRS helmet hammock
Fully stripped out, heater removed for weight loss
Door cards replaced with custom covered ones

Fully colour coded exterior (bumpers, mirrors)
VTS rear spoiler

What do you think overall?

They're not when done like that, or like this;

Another PH'ers Citroen

as a track car.

IMHO of course.

Looks nicely prepared. Maybe lose the sticky numberplate on the bonnet though?

Yeh, the numberplate on the bonent will be coming off.

I dont really car about the image to be fair, as its clear to see that its not some spotty chavs motor..

Still what would you value that at? Im on the brink of buying it

Haven't got a clue what it would be worth.

Probably easier to go on the 'what's it worth to you?' angle.

Yeh, I know that when it had the SC engine in it it was sold for 7k.

Anyways, this would be a capable machine wouldnt it.. I probably will get it?

Whats the resale market for little track cars?

I've seen that on a few forums I use and it looks to be a good example and well worth the asking price

Looks like fun.

I have a standard granny-spec one as a runaround and I'm rather tempted to stick a VTS engine in when the current unit gets tired. The aesthetics would remain untouched and I'd keep the standard ride height. Could be quite amusing.

It's a bit of a shame that so many are bought by the Halfords brigade, beacuse they're a great little car for what started life as a shopping trolley.

Is it a Saxo or a Peugeot 306?

There seems to be an identity problem with the alloys and the actual car, also why do you need two number plates on the car?
