Just a few of my Omega... with the rare Driver Involvement Pack (H-gate transmission and third pedal...)

The more i see, the more i quite fancy an Omega.

Could i ask a cheeky favour? Have a squint in the manual and look up the max towing weights for a 3.2 please.

It's always the ones with no cars listed in their profile isn't it.

My Dad had a succession of these as company cars back when the Mk1 replaced the Carlton. Great big wafty things and the first car I drove on the road was his 2.0 CDX. RWD fun at 17 biggrin

What sort of mpg do you get from the car with a manual 'box?

Parkers list it at -

Unbraked Towing Weight 750 kg
Braked Towing Weight 1875 kg

- hope this helps.

3.2's were all autos (apart from ex-plod), so you'd be looking at under 20mpg, IMHO - the diesel may be a better bet, but obviously not as quick.

Fast, cheap, comfy, and being the MV6 is decent enough in the twisties. Horses for courses.

Heh, I was 19 when I got this. Always liked the Omegas, as you say, wafty, comfy, RWD. biggrin

Around town and country, 22-25mpg, depending on how much, ahem, progress I'm making. On a motorway run, easily into 32mpg+, according to the MID (which is fairly accurate... don't trust the range though)

Nice, I had my first Omega at 18 - great, very underrated cars.

Looking at going back to one for a daily driver - probably something similar spec to yours actually yes

Aye, sadly MV6 sports leather was a very rare tick on the option list... I want the memory leather seats etc from the Elite, purely for when I get in to drive (6'4&quotwink after my mum's shifted it off the drive (5'1&quotwink, it takes me a week to get comfy again...

...IMHO, wrong wheel drive, and the Selespeed box is a pile of toss in my experience. (Alfa and VX dealers are on about the same level, however) - but as I say, horses for courses.

I find a manual rear drive V6 far more exciting than an auto front drive four pot.

Why do people apologise when making stupid comments.

Why bother saying anything at all?

sorry its a vauxhall, general motors and boring.
i wish mine was rear wheel drive but i disagree with the selespeed comment.
i think people cannot use it properley and automatically call it pants,
it takes mastering. i have top spec with leather and it looks amazing with the flip paint too.
it doesn t need to be driven fast anyway because its a posing car and no doubt the cambelt will snap if you try to hard, being italian

Exactly what crossed my mind. It's like walking past the owner of a genuine Shelby Cobra who's quite proud of his pride and joy, and so he should be of course. Then some random guy coming along and saying to him "I dont like the white stripes...sorry" then walk off :/ Rather pointless basically.

I know due to my rather twisted logic im putting the Omega together with a Shelby, but the same principle applies. Just appreciate it for what it is! An understated wafty V6 ubersaloon that does what it says on the tin and a lot more besides.

Case Closed wink

I drove some of the 'prototype' MV6 Omegas at Millbrook, I wouldn't call 165mph on the banking boring........filling up with gas after each 200 mile drive cycle was though!! Slinging one round the alpine route whilst running it in showed it to be a tidy handler and quite wieldy for such a big old bus. Also for the benifit of the "holier than thou" Alfa type...... I think you'll find the engine bay contents of the lowly Vauxhall grace the noses of bent 6 Alfas these days........

Top motor!!

Alfamike,

If you don't like the VX don't comment on it!

Personally I think the Omega is a cracking car, I've driven a few and think they are vastly underated.
