Am thinking of purchasing a MR2 with a F355 kit on - thoughts please. I have seen one in the flesh and it looked OK, are they much different built on a Pontiac Fiero? I am bracing myself for a tirade of abuse from Ferrari owners...

depends what u want really. Personally I think they're a bit sad. I'd rather have a mint MR2 turbo than something pretending it's something that its not. Everyone will know its not really a Ferrari.

Or spend the money on something like a Porsche 944 turbo/Corrado/Integrale

Sorry if it's not what you wanted to hear.

I agree don't bother badging it up as something it's not, the Mk2 MR2 Turbo is a fine car in it's own right, being mid engined there are very few cars that grip the road better (IMHO)

Noooooooooooooooooooo!!!! Don't do it... because it may look good on paper, and even in the flesh, as soon as another 355 appears, it will looks small, and completely crap. The engine will not sound the same, and people will laugh!
better off spending the cash on a TRD GT2000 kit, and it will look the nutz!

No don't do it, where I've moved to I regularly see one which the owner in his infinate wisedom has painted a metalicy silvery blue, in red from a distance, in the dark they look a bit like a 355 but this one due to the odd colour just looks pants, and he's got a cheapo Northern Irish plate on it which doesn't help

Absolutely one of the saddest things you can do to car - there is no such thing as a 'good' Ferrari lookalike kit. These are the type of cars caravan dwelling gippo's & dole dossing scummers aspire to.
I think my stance is clear

The 355 replica's are a total waste of money and space, just don't do it. The kits cost a fortune, the money could be much better spent on other area's of the car. Insurance compaines don't like them either.

They must cost a fortune as well because I've seen loads of 355 reps advertised for £15k +. WTF!!! You could get a fcuking real Ferrari for that cash, what kind of idiot will spend £15k on a poorly made fake? nobs

Its been said above, and i'll say it again.......dont do it!

MR2 is a great little car, you dont need to stick a crappy bodykit to it, just keep saving for the 355..........

The MR2 is a nice looking car anyway, you will slow it down (more weight) and waste good money that could be better spent on mods or a trackday.

Some joker stopped me the other day and asked whether it was an MR2 with a kit.

IMO think they are a waste of space.

I say go for it, and stop listening to other people. The kits I've seen built based on the 355 are mm perfect (not small) and unless you open the engine bay you wouldn't know the difference.

Most ferraris look like kits anyway.

But the most important thing is that if you like the look of a incredibly pretty car why buy a car as pig ugly and common as an MR2.

Don't let life brainwash you into accepting a box with no character. There is no embarissment attached to putting the body shell YOU like on a practical chassis. Don't pretend its a ferrari and you'll be fine. But ENJOY it for what it is.

Julian I think you are somehow missing the point by putting the body onto the car he is "pretending" that the car is a 355 its as clear cut as that,

all the best
