My little 68 Mk2 Cortina, its been about for ages, so sorry if you have seen it before,-----
Ermine white 2 door, stock body less bumpers and a discrete reverse cowl scoop , stockish red interior, A built 3,9 Rover on Thottle bodies, Emerald ECU, Capri 3 Front clip, Toyota Supra 5spd Gearbox with home adapted bellhousing, Toyota Celica LSD axle, Porsche,Evo8 and Escort WRC front brakes, Runs Mid 12s as it turns up at the strip with 1.60 60fts on leaf springs, after a forced winter engine rebuild, I should be a wee bit quicker, and with perhaps a wee bit of sniff a mid to low 11 is feasable, you never know how fast the next reincarnation will be. And I may add, has ALLWAYS been driven to and from shows and the Drags after my first initial shakedown runs, its broken only twice in 5 years, Clutch failure, and timing chain sprocket failure, Its still black under the bonnet due to the clutch fire, which seems to have bonded itself to the paint and everything else. Hopefully this will be repainted while I have the engine out.

That Cortina and the Mk1 Escort are the two best looking cars Ford made, in my book.

That is so wucking ficked I'm getting my mucking words fuddled biggrin

Seriously, awesome car and beautifully done. I spend hours drooling over the pre-73 saloons on Ebay with a view to dropping a turbocharged lexus V8 in one. It's so frustrating having imagination, aptitude, and no budget!

Congrats on a beautiful motor though.

aww999 Imagination, Aptitude and no budget,

The budget on the car is not a big one, The two big outlays were for the Fuel injection and ECU,
All the rest is down to Aptitude and Imagination, and being in the right place at the right time, and not being afraid to experiment, Especially when you get quotes from professionals for things at silly prices, £1300 for a gearbox conversion, cost me £35 on fleabay for a bellhousing to fit a Toyota Truck to a Rover, I re-machined the bellhousing to fit my box, cobbled up bits to make my clutch arm from Rover and Toyota, made a quickchange using the toyota lever [modified] and a new remote cover, made a patern in 6mm foamboard, had it cast, which cost a tenner, couple of hours machining, I think, incuding the gearbox cost me just over £100 I have an almost unbreakable drivetrain, even the axle was salvaged from the back of my mates garage, destined to go onto a stillborn Morris minor project, cost me nothingwink
Immagination and Aptitude are all you need, the rest will come to you if you look hard enough!!!!!!

Excellent stuff! cool

Very subtle outwardly, great looking car for it too!

I reckon PPC Magazine would do an article on that if you told them about it! smile

I assume you are refering to the squat, Its not particularly softly sprung, but it has the shocks wound off to induce a bit of squat and weight transfer when drag racing, the car dosent lift a wheel, but there are mods in the offing to help it launch a bit harder, but with a leaf sprung car it launches fairly well, and has some very low 60ft times on street tires, 1,604sec 60ft is not too bad, with the mods, I hope to get well into the 1,5 60ftsbiggrin

Pulling bits together like that is a lot of the fun of projects like this I think. I have learned that I HATE buggering about with rusty bodywork though, so until I can afford a rust-free example of something quirky and just big enough to squeeze a V8 in, I'm sitting on my hands. Also, I'm a complete horsepower junkie, I wouldn't say I got bored with nearly 600bhp in a twenty year old supra chassis, but I certainly got used to it pretty quick. I'm going to try and get that car running reliably (albeit detuned) before I do anything else, then I can go really crazy with whatever comes next and try for genuine four digit horsepower biggrin
