Hi everyone im a total petrol head and have had loads of raw and tasty cars that don`t break the bank! here are some ive had;

http://img30.picoodle.com/img/img30/4/2/16/f_205mi...

http://img36.picoodle.com/img/img36/4/2/16/f_fcorn...

Chevette HSR widebody
RS2000
Rs1600i
mr2 Turbo stripped track car
Westfield V8
Spitfire 1500!!ergh!
200sx s14a 350 bhp
205 gti Mi16v Rally car 180 bhp
1.6 mx5 with lsd stripped and caged in gulf colours
now a 1.8 mx5 caged and buckets, harnesses etc uprated anti-roll bars etc!

dilemma is the gulf car got written off thanks to some clown overtaking on wrong side of road down cornwall so bought this red mx5 from friend that was slightly damaged in accident! now fully repaired car is in amazing condition and great to drive (like all mx5`s) but are they a bit girly??
now when my money comes from accident which won`t be a lot maybe £4k do i sell mx5 and get an elise s1 or do i spend £4k on the red mx5 and make it a 250 bhp mental little buzzbox that will outhandle and grip a lot of supposedly faster stuff.
I also thought about a bike engined westfield and as a left field choice a skyline R32 GTR but skyline although the best looking skyline in my eyes isnt what you`d call easy on the eye and i do like a nice looking car. i need it to be able to go to france as want to do some driving there in the summer so does that rule out the westfield??
im confused as heart says elise, mental driving ability says westfield and head says keep the mint mx5 and make it a bit special!!! please help!!!
pictures of mx5 below so you can see it aint a normal one!!!

Hi mate, think you live near me. You once let me sit in your 205 at work back when I had the red S13. biggrin

Id keep the '5, I think the fact everyone rates them as a hairdressers car is their best feature. The amount of times Ive had people shout 'is that your sisters car' at lights, then see the look of surprise on their face when they cant shake me in the bends...and Im a shit driver! These cars make anyone look like Mansell, I love them. biggrin

heres your pics clear to see,

interesting looking MX5 you have there, very popular car around these parts (they even have their own forum now IIRC!) whats the spec on it?
Elises are smashing drivers cars too so making a decision between these 2 would be hard
go for a spin in one and see what you think, an S Series TVR or an early Chim would make interesting alternatives too...

please do tell us more about your previous cars, the Chevette and your SEiGHT for me please! smile

I love your MX5 - What about keeping it and supercharging it?

I would spend £4k on stuff for the mx5 as you will never see it again, a supercharger may be a good option though. If it were me i would get an elise or a vx220.

hey i do remember your s13 was lovely!! have you got that red mx5 with hard top as im loving that if you have!!! deep dish wheels!
mine came with a hard top too but i actually saw yours pass me when in my company car and with my time attack winscreen sticker thought someone had stolen me car!!!
your taste is the same as mine!!!
i love tvr`s for the noise but to be honest i think they are a bit fragile as i do tend to throw my cars around a bit and drive them properly so reliability is key!!

i`m imagining a 250 bhp mx5 with absolutley shocks gaz coilovers (one of the best for mx5 and tuned for them!) toyo888 tyres and big brake kit to be a bit lively and hard to live with on a track day or country road!! but the elise s1 with a motorsport front and rear clams in kryton green or orange just won`t go away!!!
just cannot decide!! lol!!!
i drove a friends 05 plate exige the other day just around the streets and it seemed a bit rattly around the suspension dept. i know they are are not a lexus or anything and i like it raw but it seemed a bit baggy for such a low miler!!!

Yeah mate thats the one:

I heard about what happened to the Gulf one and was gutted. Then a mate at work came back from his dinner ready to give me a bollocking about skyving off after passing your car on the way back...he was just stood outside looking at my car and scratching his head for ages. biggrin

You can pick up a full JR M45 or M62 kit used for around the £1k mark. They come up quite a lot on MX5Nutz.com. Ive been hearing good things about ''AP Dixcel'' brake kits too, theyre apparently a sister company of AP Racing, from what I hear the Time Attack DC2 uses them. My friends just ordered some for his DC2 too.

Throw the money at the MX5 I would say id would turn it into an absolute beast. I test drove an Elise after wanting one for like 10 years and was SO disapointed I would have another Westfield over an Elise.

Depends largely on budget I'd say. If you can afford a decent elise and can do a bit of spannering then I'd say go for it. Theres nothing like them.

haha! that was what i was like when i saw yours!!! how weird is that as i had the time attack on mine when i saw yours!!!!

what wheels you got are they image wheels??

will have to bring it to show you!!

yep thought about jackson racing supercharger but think i have settled on an fm2 hydra turbo kit to give 250 ish bhp!

and to be honest think im more going towards turboing the mux five! if it was an overwhelming vote for elise then think id have one but as i say drove an 05 plate exige and yes it steered beautifully etc but it seemed a bit fragile plus no lsd and in my 1.8 i have a torsen lsd which makes for plenty of tail out action if i want to! just want to test the water first as its a lot of money to spend on mk1 mx5 which by the way is the only mx5 i`d have as the others just look too feminine!!

Chevette pictures to follow as will have to take pictures of me pictures will post em soon! it was painted in ford vista orange by the way and trust me looked really nice and basically taught me how to drive properly as every corner was with either loads or a bit of opposite lock!!! now i can do anything with a car thanks to that experience!! i was only 19 when i had it and im 34 now!!!lol!!

p.s have also lusted after an RX7 but have heard too many horror stories!!!
