Just bought my first van today: 2.5 litres and 80 bhp of pure noise. Always wanted a van for some reason, and with some ongoing building projects and the need for another road-going vehicle in the Sniff household I saw justification to splash out a whopping £500 on this beauty. Needs some stickers IMO.

Ha fcensoredg Ha.

I suspect I may be blacklisted from hiring vans from them again but I won't be taking this one abroad.

Looks tidy for the age.

You need a mug and holder for the dashboard and a 4 week old copy of The Sun.

My GF laughed when I showed it her and said that, but as far as 12 year old Transits go this one doesn't have anywhere near as much rust as you'd expect. Plus it's had a new clutch and cambelt recently and looks like it's been serviced regularly (nice clean oil and antifreeze)

Last of the decent Transits.

Our van for work, S409 RDT (hope no one on here now owns it) 250k miles of pure thrash 24hrs a day 7 days a week can't remember any major problems at all.

TBH I find the newer (post 2000) shape much nicer to drive but didn't want too much money tied up in a newer one, at this price it should pay for itself after about a year as I must have spent the purchase price on van hire alone in the last 12 months.

We just had to fork out 6k at work to end the contract on our new Transit, in 18 months it had spent 6 months at the dealers getting fixed.

I have to say that despite 160000 miles it feels strong: no wining noises from the diff, gearbox, engine, starts on the button even when covered in frost.

Already coming into use today picking up some worktops for my new kitchen!

I have to admit that I love driving vans as much as I love driving sportscars! Some of my greatest driving adventures have been in big white vans, parp parp!!

My God it's slow though, just got back from picking up the worktops. Probably only took some 10-15mins more than by car but it seemed to take an age, 60mph is an acheivement (but did see 80mph on the clock once) and I just felt like I didn't want to slow down and wanted to conserve momentum at all cost. Going to give her an oil change, check the air filter and run some injection cleaner when I fill up next to make sure she's running spot-on.

Was this whilst glancing at the opposite side of the clock to where the needle was pointing?
I find the impression of speed is greatly increased by simply driving with your head out of the window. Not sure if you have to declare that on the insurance though.
