WANTED WHITE 106 GTI

if you have the time and the space, it would be easier to buy a non-runner, repair/replace the compnents that need attention and re-spray it.
even the newest 205 gti is fifteen years old now so finding one in good condition is very hard, especially a low mileage example. you are very unlikely to find one with less than 100K on the clock though i suppose it depends upon your definition of low mileage.
do what i did, buy a non runner for £300 and spend less than £700 getting it up to a good standard safer in the knowledge that it wont go bang ten miles down the road. you would be hard pushed to find a car for £1000 in good condition and of a low mileage and i have uprated the brakes at the front, fitted a new exhaust, put in bucket seats and will get the engine rebuilt soon. might just go over the total £1K budget but not by much.
