I can't find my old thread so thought I'd start a fresh one with a couple of pics of my bargain mini barge.

It cost less than a shed of the week to buy and the plan is to use and abuse it over the next season at tracks around the uk.... oh and one little one in Germany with a load of mates. smile

Cheers

nice corrado you got there,

I can't believe it cost less than a shed as it is in the pics, what work have you done since you got it?

What the heck - a mint-looking Corrado on throttle bodies for Shed Of The Week money? Does it still have a chassis number? hehe

Are they ITBs or bike carbs of some description?

Thanks all..

The car cost me £900.. I've spent a bit on it but everything is from ebay pretty much and I just held off until I got a bargain.

They are ZX9R Keihin flat slide carbs. Jetted by bogg brothers.

Corrado's are popping up for silly money now. I've seen a few go for £600!! Mine has a few spots of rust but nothing worth getting fussy over for the money I paid. All it needed was some TLC and lots of meguiars mirror glaze.

All these people hunting for Mk2 golfs as track cars and paying over the odds and there's a better looking coupe for less money kicking around..

Paul,

you lucky bugger. The car looks gorgeous. What is it, a 2.0litre 16valve?

nice!

you're right, as long as you don't want a g60/vr6 they are dead cheap as it seems no one really wants the 1.8 and 2.0.

Vr's and g60's seem to still fecth good money.

[WEEP] i sold my VR for £3,750 back in septemeber with 105K.[WEEP/]

Nice Rado, Paul.

Can't say I've seen one on bike carbs before! How many horses?

It's only a little 1800. Standard block so not many horses I wouldn't have thought. It was supposed to be dyno'd last week but I ran out of cash sorting the red top fuel pump. Will post a graph when it's done though. Quite a few people are waiting to see what she makes to see if the conversion is worth it.

Definitely lots more torque though..

I'd like to have rebuilt a 2.0 block and used the 1800 cams in the 2.0l head. That plus the bike carbs should make over 200bhp.
Sadly I think i'll put it up for sale soon as I'm joining the RAF and need something slightly more sensible for the long drives to and from bases (EP3 Civic R probably).

Anyone wanna buy a corrado? haha

Very nice Paul, what sort of power do you get from that set up?. I still miss my VR which I sold back in 2002

Not much left to do really. I'm removing the sunroof mech as it weighs shedloads. I'll then panel over it with a carbon fibre panel.

Apart from that I'm happy with it the way it is. If I was going to keep it longer I'd change the brakes for 305mm brembos from a Cupra and change the block to the 2.0l I mentioned at the start of the thread.

Pretty sure I'll sell it though, either that or I'll try and find a garage to rent while I'm away and store it. I need to have a think really.
There is something appealling about having a nice comfy newish car that you can turn up to a track day in.

dont suppose i could becheeky and ask for a list of parts you had to purchase for the conversion and rough budgets?

Hello buddy.

There's a list of what I needed to do the conversion on the-corrado.net that you might want to have a quick search for.

The main thing to worry about is the water outlet from the head to the rad though. To do the job properly you'd need to manufacture something custom as it's an awkward angle to get a pipe for. Other than than it's very easy to do.

Budget in total I think was about 800
