Well, after having to sell my red MX5 as I got a company car (Astra VXR), I'm now back in an MX5! A bit of detail about both...

This is the Classic Red MX5. It was the base model 1.6, with added 14" OZ Alloys.

I only had the car 2 months, but I did really like it, and promised myself another MX5 when I had to own a car again. In those 2 months though, I did realise that no central locking, no electric windows, etc annoyed me, so decided to get a higher model next time!

It was in gorgeous condition, with only one very minor stone dent on it!

Now, I've just bought my new MX5. Again, it's a Mk2. Again, it's a 2000 W plate. But, this time, it's a 1.8! I now have the extras which are nice to have... Electric Windows, Remote Central Locking, Alarm, Metallic Paint, etc.

In addition to the standard spec, it also has some extras:

Clear Repeaters
Clear Reflectors (Front and Rear)
Clear 3rd Brake Light
Chrome Filler Cap
Chrome Gear Stick and Surround
Chrome Handbrake
Chrome Headrest Bars
Chrome Heater Surrounds
Spoiler
Hard Top
Minidisc player... Erm...
16" Momo Alloy Wheels

I really like the look of it with the hard top on, so that'll stay on for 10 months of the year. The car is a bit gutless if I'm totally honest, but I'm sure I'll get used to it (coming down from 240bhp). Nice to be back in a RWD car though! biggrin

Anyway, the photos:

It's definitely much nicer. The plan is to just keep it on 10 months of the year now. smile

Nice car - hardtop looks good - not too sure about the wavy rear spoiler though but that's just a personal opinion thing.

With these still going strong in the 21st Century it makes you realise just how right Chapman got the styling of the Lotus Elan back in the mid sixties.

Can't say I'm that into the spoiler either personally, but it's growing on me smile

Hi Mate. Nothing against your MX5 (My ex had one and I liked it *) but it's really going to feel a bit weedy after the VXR isn't it ? I never like the idea of getting something less powerful when changing motors.

BTW* - I bought her it and the b*tch left me 6 months later and took it with her !! Sorry for off-topic venting of biterness.

Can't afford to run or insure a car with as much power as the VXR unfortunately. Only had it as a company car.

I'm sure I'll get used to 140bhp soon enough...

Haha, I see my post had made you join up!

Definitely a bit girly compared to the VXR, but it's not a bad daily driver for now.

Definitely need to get some professional photos done again, since the VXR ones came out so well.

No idea... I know the arm for the camera was edited out, but nothing else. Ask the man above, he's the person who took the shots for me biggrin

Think it's just the horrid angle and purple tinge from the ND filters

There are more too. Just search for 'deanphoto' on the interweb, and there's some on his flickr and deanphoto.co.uk
