is it an s2?
not an expert, but looks like my step dads s2.always thought the rap-round rear bumper/spoiler/skirt was an s2 rather than turbo thing.
still love the purity the 80's tho, in my book a mint one would have a period 80's red pin strip interior
ok -- i'll go to bed now....

Its not an S2 which is normally aspirated. Its a Porsche 951 (944 turbo)
The S2 didnt have the rear lower spoiler but did gain the turbo front end. The S2`s are superb cars on the twisty bits and are probably as quick as the turbo version in those circumstances however given a good run or a long quick track like Silverstone the turbo is in a different league. In 1988 the turbos left the factory as standard with 0-60 in 5.5 secs, 13 sec 1/4 mile and 165mph. Porsche never developed them further as they were quicker than the 911 turbo for a while and handled better.
Even today and with 122,000 on the clock mine still puts out the factory figures and is quicker than a Carrera 2/4S, and the same as an F360 (my mates got one so he keeps trying to beat me ) as its power to weight ratio is so good and it has huge torque. The downside is huge turbo lag unless you keep it spinning however if you spend about a grand you`re in (reliable) 300bhp plus territory with minimal lag and there`s not a lot out there that are quicker. There are a few that are now pushing out over 400 reliable bhp whilst still weighing some 11-1200kgs. Its star assets are its overtaking ability and there is not much that will stay with it through the gears. They are still super value to buy and having had a stupidly quick VX powered Westy and a mental rare Ginetta G27 V8 its the only tin top I like to drive.
Thanks for all the kind comments.
