Hey all,

I've just joined pistonheads as a forum member, after purchasing my new motor from the excellent classifieds section. (2002 Seat Toledo V5 - 2.3 litre 170bhp - brilliant fun!). I'm glad to finally be among such a vaired collection of motoring elite, and i'm totally looking forward to meeting some of you and seeing your cars at the pistonheads show in Jan '08.

Thought I'd give a brief insight into my motoring past and lay a tribute to my beloved first car, a 1993 white 1.6 MX5. I just found out that the bloke I sold it to managed to stick it under the rear wheels of an artic on a roundabout on the A46 stratford bypass (too much power, in the wet, back went round!). Here's a few snapshots of my favorite lil' motor...

She was totally original, 7 owners from new (even spent some of her life in Ireland) and the only thing I did was put some look-a-like mazdaspeed wheels on her. Hours of driving pleasure and loving care gone in a moment by one careless new owner.....

Anyway, onwards and upwards...early in '08 I'm hoping to take my toledo and my camera to Mallory Park for few pics and a few laps. Results coming soon!

Nice to meet you all and merry christmas!

Hi Sam welcome to PH
wavey

Shame about the Mk1 MX-5 1.6 (best model I think) it's the usual story with its demise - the drivers normally for the sake of ego and insurance premiums blame it on the car, road conditions or "diesel spill"

Any chance you could post above as a new thread on Jap Chat forum
http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/forum.asp?h=0&a...
and
MX-5 forum
http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/forum.asp?h=0&a...

to try and advise others of this well known but hidden issue as many youngsters and/or first-time RWD drivers are buying MX-5s and other RWD cars
