New car - Fabia VRS
Discussion
Picked the new (to me) car up last night. It's actually going to be the wifes, as we are expecting our first baby in May - so a semi sensible car was required. The car is a 2004, however has her private plate on it. I still have the clio 172. The car is in excellent condition and initial impressions are very good...
The driving position is decent, the pedals are slightly offset for my liking. The steering is also a little light, over assisted to be honest. It feels very composed however a set of eibachs will be purchased in the new year. The car has been remapped at star performance to 172bhp, with 300lb/ft of torque, with in gear performance being pretty balisitic.. The build quality is sooo much better than the clio. The wheels have been refurbed in antracite which complements the 'Black magic' beautifully.
Anyway, a few pics on the way to edinburgh to do my Christmas shopping (did it early this year, lol.)

Looks stunning mate - well done - a lovely and interesting car with a bit of economy thrown in for good measure.
I want one of these - if the price range ever drops a bit - It'd sit nicely alongside the elise as the ahem - sensible choice dear
If you can - try to keep us posted on what they are like to run - I'm sure a lot of people on here would be interested.

Nice.
I have a SDI and would like to upgrade to one of these in the future.
If you're into forums other than PH check out BRISKODA.
You'd have thought they would have made it better for the VRS.

My last car was a 51 fabia 1.4 16v (top of the range until the VRS came along)
My girlfriend has it now.
Great car to drive economical yet with a bit of grunt (the 16v only had 100bhp)
And yes the PAS is very light although if you have the same problems I had with mine it'll suddenly get VERY heavy Without the PAS the car is almost undrivable.
Hope you enjoy it. I thought about getting one of them but opted for a coupe whilst I can still justify it

I'm on my second, the Limited Edition this time (Balmoral Green has one too - I think it's his second or third).A very competent car and using all that torque is great fun. I regularly do over 300 miles in a day, and as Podie says, get 60mpg out of it (over 65mpg if I'm stuck in slow traffic). Watch the bad weather, they can be prone to lift-off oversteer. I wouldn't do anything with the suspension yet though - I was convinced I wanted stiffer springs, but you can get a tie-bar that will solve the minor handling problems.
With all due respect to PH, Briskoda is where you need to be if you want to talk to people who are really knowledgeable on the subject.

Hi John
I have one too same colour as well 06 plate. I also come from round that way too and I regurarly am in and out of Edinburgh. I get around 60mpg and thats including stop start traffic as well. Great car has a good turn of speed and is quite comfy as well. I too had a hot renault although a meg trophy. Was a bit of let down next too that but I am quickly warming to its charms and character.
See you around

Appears that the badge is very important to you - ironic really when the car is a Skoda...
I've obviously missed the point of this comment..?
Skoda was once a badge everyone wanted to avoid (not now) and here we are today with a Skoda proudly showing off the VRS badges - How times have changed.
