My E34 M5 (picture heavy)
Discussion
Well, now i've finally got round to uploading the pictures, heres some shots of my M5
The car is a '95 M plate 3.8 6 speed. It was featured in the buying guide for Practical Performance Car in back in July, hence why some of the picutes are of a rather decent quality I haven't managed to take any myself as yet, due mainly to not having a decent camera and not enough time!
PPC shoot pictures
That fabulous straight 6
Future plans include poly bushes all round, a rebuild of the dampers (if i can find anybody to do it!!), a respray of the front bumper and grille to get rid of the stone chips, new set of HID headlights and a throughly detail at some point next year
I have to admit, having never been a BMW fan it wasn't exactly on my short list of possible purchases. However, due to some persuasion by various members (ASBO, Der amongst others), coupled with the highly dangerous and expensive Barge Bargins thread i did a bit of research, looked at a couple, before hiking it down to Stoke on Trent from Aberdeen to have a look at this one. I didn't know what to expect at first as pictures can hide a lot, but once it was out the garage and on the road, i just fell in love with it. Slapped a deposit on it there and then, picked it up a week and a half later, with a 400 mile drive home to look forward to!
It's a great machine, no doubt will cost my a bloody fortune in bills, but it puts a smile on my face every time i drive it.
Cheers

Am I right in thinking its got 380bhp-why did'nt they slap that engine in the last model m3?
Bloomin lovely nice colour too!
ETA corrected by wiki- 340bhp, but still why did they develop a new motor for the m3 when they had this sitting on the shelves?

iirc this engine was nearing the end of its developable life at 3.8L and they generally struggled to make 340bhp. Hence development of new unit. But 3.8 in fine fettle is absolutely stonking power unit.

Just magnificent.
Decision made; now, which one? Oh bugger!
(I know it's a bit unseemly but any indication of ball park for an example like that? What's the mileage, also?)
For that kind of condition, i'd hazard a guess at around the £8k mark. I certainly wouldn't pay more for one than that, as if you dig around there are some real good cars out there for not a lot of cash. You need to beware of the last of the line LE's, as some people think these will command a hefty premium over the other models, but in reality they are pretty much identical and hence only worth a very slight margin on top of a normal car.Decision made; now, which one? Mine now has 98200 miles on the clock, it's done overall 30k in the past 6 1/2 years, with the last 18 months only covering 1900 miles. Parked in a garage all it's life, it currently sits outside covered in muck as i haven't had a chance to wash the samn thing yet! It's been polished with Zylmol every weekend, and the guy that owned it was a real fanatic. I've now got 2 DVD-Rs full of pictures, videos, reviews and manuals that he had, plus the original feature in PPC. Extremely chuffed with it

"It is rumored that the test drivers of the E34 M5 could determine who or what team made each specific M5, due to characteristic quirks of the handbuilt nature of the E34 M5."
Awesome, I want one
